DOM Locks up when placing order

I'm using NT8 Ver 8.0.4.0 64 bit on an Intel i7 with Windows 10. My DOM locks up when I place trade every so often. The charts however, keep running, updating but chart trader does not show a trade is in force.
Some days it is as frequently as every 9 trades, others once in 20 trades. I am placing trades using the "Market" buttons, bottom of Buy & Sell columns..
I have tried a static DOM - same issue. I have sent my logs and trace filers to Techs at NT (twice) but they can find nothing wrong. I am in New Zealand so synchronising times to share the screen while I trade is a problem.
I have to close NT and restart it or it will behave as if the trade is active, even though it doesn't show on anything.
I have paid for a lease of NT8 and the clocks ticking but I dare not enter the license key and risk going live as long as I have this problem.
Is anyone else having this issue?

    Hello,

    Thanks for posting.

What size is your database file? This file will be named "NinjaTrader" or "NinjaTrader.sdf" and will be located under Documents -> NinjaTrader 8 -> db.

Do you receive an error on screen? Are there errors on the Log tab of the Control Center? If so, what do these errors report?

      DOM keeps locking up

      Thanks for your reply
The NinjaTrader.sdf file is 9856 KB.
In the past we have tried erasing the log and trace files but the problen continued. I reinstalled NT8 and it did it again, then I updated to this latest edition - all to no avail.

There are no error signs at all when my DOM locks up. It just stops responding to both mouse input and data feed, while the charts both continue as normal, updating their data.
The only way I can tell the DOM is frozen is if I click on it, the blue rotating circle that says Windows is loading something, appears

It happens when I place a trade using the Market buttons for either Sell or Buy.
I click on it with (or without my ATM set).
The voice messages doesn't sound to tell me the trade is filled, the green target and red stops do not appear in the DOM either.
I have the Chart Trader set to "Hidden" so they target and stops appear on the charts usually but they do not appear if the DOM locks up.
If I shut the computer down, when I start it up, it will deduct the trade from the SIM account. However if I close the Control panel, telling it not to save Worksheet, it will display a window ; "Windows is searching for a solution to the problem, with a timer bar. If I wait till the timer bar fills and NT is closed, when I restart it, it's back to normal and doesn't subtract the missing trade from the trade account.

I have had this occur randomly as well. What occurs more frequently than a complete lockup is that the Single Click order modification will stop working. and you have to actually select each Stop or target in order to move it. Complete freeze of the Dom ( no errors in the log or trace file ) seems to have occurred with 8.0.4 but the single click error was there prior.

          Hello Mimenta,

In these sorts of situations, this can relate to an excessively large or corrupted database file. However, I would not expect a database of this size to cause this behavior. As a test, could you please shut down the platform and rename the database? You would have the option to change the name back if this test does not prove successful.

You can rename your database with the following steps :

-Shutdown NinjaTrader and Go to the Start Menu

          -Select My Documents--> NinjaTrader 8--> DB--> NinjaTrader.SDF.

-Right click on NinjaTrader.SDF and select "Rename." *Name it "OLDNinjaTrader.SDF."

-Then restart the software and NinjaTrader will create a fresh database file to use

-Unfortunately the following items stored in the old database will be lost - Session templates, Instrument Lists / Custom Instruments, historical trade execution data, saved Strategy Analyzer backtest results

To prevent running into situations where you can potentially lose important data, we advise to run regular backups via our inbuild backup feature in NinjaTrader - http://ninjatrader.com/support/helpG...up_archive.htm
