I created a basic strategy and enabled it. But I don't understand what the position column means because no positions have been opened yet.

Thank you for the post.

A Yellow/orange state indicates the strategy is waiting until it reaches a flat position to be in sync with the account position before fully starting. This is noted in the help guide here: http://ninjatrader.com/support/helpG...tegies_tab.htm

Essentially the strategy can and will place trades through the historical data on the chart if it can, if the strategy ends up in a historical position, it would need to follow your logic until that position is closed to be in sync with the account.

This can be controlled using logic or using the strategies settings. I would suggest reviewing the following document for further details on this topic: http://ninjatrader.com/support/helpG..._positions.htm

The strategy can prevent any trading before real-time using the States also. For example, in your conditions, you could check if the State is equal to Realtime if so allow trading. This would prevent historical trades/backtests.

Can I configure the states in the wizard or do I have to add it manually?
