Upgrading from NT7 to NT8

    Upgrading from NT7 to NT8

    I recently upgraded from NT7 to NT8. Since doing so, all of the following custom objects are gone:

    indicators
    strategies
    work spaces
    instrument lists

    How do I get them back? Please advise.

    Thank you for the post.

    The initial migration will bring some infomration over from a NT7 installation but due to changes in the platform, previous items such as NinjaScript, workspaces and templates can not directly be imported into NT8. Previous items would need to be converted in order to be used in the new platform.

    Workspaces and templates would need to be recreated and NinjaScript items would need to be re created as well.

    For third party items, the developers of these items may have already done this process. You would need to review the third parties web information to see if that is the case. For items you have developed you would need to convert the item. If you need assistance, please post any questions on the transition in the development forums.

      It looks like my data didn't come across either. How do I bring my data from NT7 to NT8?

        Hello Style,

        Thank you for your response.

        When first installing NinjaTrader you are prompted for the migration, this should convert the data over to NinjaTrader 8 automatically. If not, check the Log of the Control Center for any errors.

        You can re-do the installation of NinjaTrader 8 to initiate the migration again with the instructions below:
        • Close all running applications.
        • Uninstall NinjaTrader within Windows Control Panel.
        • Then manually delete the folder 'NinjaTrader 8' located under Start> My Documents.
        • Reboot your machine.
        • Once these steps are completed, download NT8 from the link below.
        • http://ninjatrader.com/PlatformDirect

        Once complete, start NinjaTrader 8 and select Yes to begin the migration. If the data imported correctly you ill find it under Tools > Historical Data. If not, check the Log tab of the Control Center for errors.
