Enabling a strategy from a chart

Hello,

When I launch a strategy from a chart and disable it in the evening, the next morning when I re-enable it (without closing NinjaTrader or the chart), it starts correctly but does not submit any orders.

I have to manually right-click on the chart, select "Reload NinjaScript", and then activate the strategy again for it to start sending orders.

Is there a way to avoid having to do this manual step?

Thank you for posting on the NinjaTrader forums.


Is this a Strategy that you created on your own through the Strategy Builder or a strategy that was provided by a vendor for you to import? If you created this on your own it would typically point to logic missing to restart the script's internal logic when initiating the strategy.


If this is a strategy that you were provided, please work with your vendor on a direct solution.

This is a strategy i created by my own using an indicator i created also by my own.

It seems that live ticks do not trigger OnBarUpdate() unless I manually reload the strategy by right-clicking on the chart.

Is there a way to reload the strategy automatically via a script when it is enabled?

This would be unexpected behavior.

I would first recommend updating to NinjaTrader 8.1.4.2 as this may be something already corrected in the latest release.

After updating to 8.1.4.2 if you are still able to reproduce, try testing the Sample MA Crossover included with NinjaTrader.
Does this also experience the same behavior?

Who are you connecting to for data?

Does the chart the Sample MA Crossover is applied to show new bars forming on the chart?
