    HotKeys not working.

Hello, I am tying to add hotkeys and am able to save. I see the warning about modal form. And I tried the hotkeys while in an ATM strategy trade, but it does not trigger from chart trader, superdom, or basic entry while they are the windows in focus. I would like to know:

    1. How to activate to ensure its working?
    2. Can I use hot keys once entry is made via a trade which initiated with the strategy?
    3. In a case where I enter without a stop, then add a stop, can I use hotkeys to move that to breakeven? Will it recognize and be linked?
    4. Curious if I can add a custom button to chart trader or superdom buttons linked to hotkeys, since I don't see breakeven button on chart trader or superdom.

I am currently using 8.1.4.2 64-bit on evaluation. TIA.

    Hello shodown888,

    Thank you for posting.

    1. To enable hot keys for order entry please go to the Control Center->Tools->Options->Trading->Enable "Use order entry hot keys"->Click OK.
    2. Can you clarify which hot key you would like to use once your entry order has been executed. Also are you referring to an ATM Strategy or an automated strategy you have created?
    3. If you submit a Stop order manually yes you can use the Hot Key "Breakeven position" to move the stop order to breakeven.
    4. Unfortunately we do not currently have an option to add a Breakeven button to the Chart Trader or SuperDOM and this would require custom programming.

Let me know if I may be of further assistance.

      Thanks Chris for the response.

      1. Hotkeys are working now.
      2. I would use the Ctrl + - as pictured. It looks like both for position and atm are working as intended. If I am in multiple positions using atm strategies for each, will this hotkey "Breakeven ATM Strategy" work for all those that used ATM strategies, or only for the last one? Perhaps there is clearer definition of each hotkey that explains for me to review?
      3. I was able to test the linking when adding manually. Works as I thought.
      4. Understood on customizing button.

Curious, about the ATM strategy applying after initial entry that did not have stop loss. When applying, the qty reflects actual position, not what is listed in the ATM strategy when the strategy was created correct? I noticed this when I updated order qty, selected a strategy with lower qty, then entered, the qty updated but strategy still applied. Which is intuitive. In the case after entry, if setting for breakeven, then trail, will "breakeven" apply to current price? Or actual entry price? And if trail conditions are set in that strategy, will it effectively trail? Ideally, I am looking to add the management strategy, which may include a trailing stop.

Lastly, for trades that were entered with an ATM strategy that includes exit conditions, in a case where data disconnects, are these orders, including trailing conditions based on the ATM strategy saved and will function, regardless of data connected on my local pc? I want to make sure I understand the limitations of automation via the ATM Strategies which may need closer attention that fully automated management.

      Thank you!

If you are referring to scaling into a position with an ATM Strategy with the default settings when using the "Breakeven ATM strategy" hot key this would move Stop Loss orders to breakeven.

To clarify are you changing the Ordre qty then selecting an ATM template from the drop down and the Order qty is changing? If so correct when using the ATM Strategy selection mode the Order qty would change based on the qty saved as a part of the strategy template. I you want to change this behavior right click in the Chart Trader panel->Properties->Select "Keep selected ATM strategy template on order submission" from the ATM strategy selection mode drop down menu then click OK.

Keep in mind with this setting if you scale into a position you would need to select each active ATM strategy from the drop down menu then use the "Breakeven ATM strategy" hot key to move each Stop Loss individually as opposed to all of the Stop Loss orders being moved together.

The Breakeven feature would look at your average entry price as opposed to the current price.

The ATM Strategy functionality is held locally on your PC therefore in order for the Auto Breakeven or Auto Trail to trigger you would need to have NinjaTrader open and connected to your account.

Thanks again for the replies. I am glad NinjaTrader is so robust in giving us options on how to customize our management of our trades. As for the strategy needing to be on, understood. I will keep this in mind as we build out strategies. I now see why some recommend a VPS when using NinjaTrader if we need to keep it running and accessible remotely. This may be important if running multiple strategies to allow an easy way to get back on track to protect the account. So to clarify, management needs PC on, but does the initial target and stop loss entered as a bracket order automatically get submitted to the exchange? I think you were trying to convey that, but just need to ensure I understand.

After your entry order is submitted the ATM Strategy Stop and Profit will not be submitted until the entry order is executed therefore if you were to submit your entry order and close NinjaTrader if the entry order is executed you would have a naked position with no protective orders.

I am glad I asked to clarify. This is a bit of a concern so perhaps once more clarification for everyone to understand would be good.

              1. If I set a Limit Bracket Order with a Limit Entry with attached OCO stop loss and take profit, then my computer disconnects, the entry order is still pending, but the attached OCO is not?
              2. If I enter on market order, with attached OCO stop loss and take profit, then my computer disconnects, the attached OCO is submitted, even though additional management strategy is not working, the original OCO will remain correct?

How can we prevent having a naked position?
