Trade Markers (Entry/Exit Bar & Price) Moving on Chart

    Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing a strange issue with trade markers on my chart.

For some reason, the markers that indicate trade entries (buy long / sell short) and exits (profit target or stop loss) are shifting position on the chart, instead of remaining fixed at the bar and price where the trade actually occurred.

These markers should stay static at the exact candle and price level where the trade was executed—but in my case, they appear to "float" or shift to different bars, which makes it confusing to analyze past trades accurately.

I've attached a short GIF to demonstrate the behavior and a screen shot of the chart with the trad markers off-side.

Has anyone seen this before or know how to resolve it? Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks

    Hello MattDavid,

    Thank you for the message.

Watching the gif, this is a result of the PC Clock not being in sync with the real world causing the timestamps to not line up as expected.

You may use the steps below to sync your PC's internal clock that NinjaTrader's Charts use for its timestamps.
    • Shutdown NinjaTrader
    • Right-click on the clock in the lower-right corner of your desktop
    • Select "Adjust date and time"

For Windows 10, select 'Date, Time, and regional formatting' > 'Additional date, time, and regional settings' > 'Set the time and date'
    • Select the 'Internet Time' tab at the top
    • Set the server to time.nist.gov and click "Update".
    • If the message that appears says successful your PC clock should now be updated.
    • If not, select a different server from the Server: drop-down and try again (repeat until one of the servers is successful)

For Windows 11, select Sync Now under Additional Settings. We would also recommend enabling your computer to set the time and the time zone automatically if they are not already enabled.

After updating the PC clock, reopen NinjaTrader, then right-click in the Chart and select "Reload All Historical Data".

This will not move the prior trade markers retroactively, but this should fix the markers for any trades moving forward.

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.

      Hi Clayton,

      Thanks for your detailed reply.

I synced the PC clock as suggested, but unfortunately the issue still persists.

I've noticed that there's consistently a 10-minute gap between the actual trade execution and where the markers appear on the chart. (see below, act)

Could it be related to the 10min' delay in simulation data?

        Hello MattDavid,

        Thank you for the update.

Yes, this could also be related to using the Delayed data.

From here, you would have to apply for an account and subscribe to real-time data if you want to keep using NinjaTrader brokerage as the data provider.

Otherwise, you would have to get an account from somewhere with real-time data and then connect to that so your trades are placed on the real-time data moving forward.
Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.
