Automatic updating VWAP drawing tool
Is there a way to make the drawing tool VWAP automatically update on each tick and to automatically include the following bar in the drawing instead of manually updating it? The indicator order flow VWAP does this, but I haven't been able to find a way to make the drawing tool VWAP do this.Tags: None

Hello dlindsey13,
Thank you for the message.
Unfortunately, there would be no way to make a Drawing Object update after it was drawn without redrawing it.- A Drawing Object is intended to be a static object that does not update or change after it is drawn.
An Indicator is expected to be something that visually changes as new data comes in.- This is why the Order Flow VWAP Indicator has a "Calculate" setting that lets the user select "On Each Tick" to have the indicator re-calculate with every new incoming tick of data.
So, you would either have to re-draw the Drawing Object, or use the Indicator version so it continues to update over time.
You may click here for more information on what each of the Order Flow VWAP settings do
Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.

I found a work around in case anybody else has this same question. If you scroll to the right on the chart into the future, you can place the drawing at any point into the future and it will continue to update by the tick (resolution set to tick) until the time that you placed the drawing. I attach VWAP at various points during the day then drag it to the EOD and that seems to be working.

Hello dlindsey13,
Thank you for the update.
Please know that putting any Drawing Object's end point past the current date/time that exists can result in the indicator shifting to a different price or time.- A Drawing Object works using the "Time" and "Price" values as "Anchor Points" that could be compared to the X and Y coordinates of a graph.
- Since those points are in the future, the chart that ends up getting built can make it so the axis is more or less stretched once the time actually gets there and the value you initially drew your object at is either at a higher or lower price.
While what you are doing seems to be working, I just wanted you to know this information ahead of time before you make a habit of doing it with all of your drawing objects and then run into this unique situation later.
If you are using the Drawing Object Order Flow VWAP instead of the Indicator Order Flow VWAP because you don't want it showing the values from a specific time of the day, it could be better to instead create a custom Trading Hours Template that only plots for the times of day you care about.- Please click here for more detailed information on copying and creating your own Trading Hours Templates
- I would suggest to find one that is closest > copy it > Then, give it a Unique "Name". Then, customize it from there as desired.
- Once you have the Custom Trading Hours Template > Right-click the chart > Select Indicators > Select your Order Flow VWAP indicator > Parameters > Trading hours > Select your desired template > Click OK
- You may need to right-click on the chart and select "Reload all historical data" to see the changes if it doesn't update automatically.
Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.
