NT & IBKR Account information

I'm trying to setup Guardian Angel trader to work with NinjaTrader and my connected IBKR account.

I've noticed that in the account tab, NT does not display the unrealized P&L of open stock positions that I have in IBKR. Is there a rule to this? I know it display unrealized P&L when I open a futures position.

Is it the case that it only shows P&L of positions that were instigated via NT?

This actually works better for me trying to set this up but I'm just wondering why NT doesn't display this information. It shows the positions in the positions tab, but does not include these positions in calculating unrealized P&L.

You are correct that it is because those Stock orders were not initially placed through the NinjaTrader Platform.


This behavior is expected based on how NinjaTrader handles position and PnL data from external providers in multi-provider mode. Here's a breakdown:

What NinjaTrader does display:

• Positions from IBKR:
  • These are shown in the Positions tab because NinjaTrader is querying the broker directly and displaying the live position data.

What NinjaTrader may not display:

• Unrealized PnL for stock positions (like those held at IBKR but not placed through NinjaTrader):
  • NinjaTrader does not calculate or display unrealized PnL for externally held positions (like stocks in IBKR) unless the orders that opened those positions were placed through NinjaTrader.

This behavior differs from futures positions, especially if traded via NinjaTrader Brokerage or supported providers with full server-side support. In those cases, the system manages and tracks the trade lifecycle and can report PnL accordingly.

Hey, what I'm finding though is that even if I open the position in NT. It's not displaying the unrealized P&L. It displays it in the positioins tab, but not in the account tab and I kinda need this for it to work with guardian angel trader.

Surely it has this amount because it's displayed on the chart

Thank you for the update.

After further investigation, I have found that the Unrealized PnL Values are not being provided by the Interactive Brokers connection to NinjaTrader.

So, it is expected NOT to see the Unrealized PnL when using Interactive Brokers accounts.
