Manually recover a workspace

I don't want to restore all my workspaces from the last backup. I had one corrupt workspace which I deleted. Can I go into the Workspaces recovery folder, manually copy that workspace, and place it in the workspaces folder?

Thank you for the message.

Yes, it is possible to extract a specific file from a NinjaTrader Backup file and then manually move it into your current installation:

• Close NinjaTrader
• Copy and paste the Backup file so it creates a Copy or Duplicate (This is so we don't mess up the original backup file. From here, do every thing else to this new copy)
• Now, make sure you can see the File Extensions at the end.
  • The backup file should show with the ending extension of.nt8bk
  • If you don't see the File Extensions, click here for publicly available steps on how to reveal those
• Right-click the Copied Backup file > Select Rename > Click at the very end of the file and remove the .nt8bk and replace it with .zip > Press Enter on the key board > Click Yes or OK to the warning about it changing the file type.
  • (The backup file is really just a .zip file with a custom extension so it ties to NinjaTrader in the PC.)
  • Now, you are able to treat this file like you would any .ZIP folder.

From here, you could go into the .ZIP folder > Workspaces > Copy the Workspace file you care about. (You shouldn't need to extract the files before doing this. But, if it doesn't work or gives an error, try extracting the files and then following the steps below again.)

• Then, go to the Documents Folder > NinjaTrader 8 > Workspaces > Paste the Workspace file into this folder

The next time you open NinjaTrader, you should be able to see that workspace within the Workspaces folder.
