Moving NT Installation
I've caused myself a lot of problems by installing NT under One Drive rather than under my profile in the disk root folder.

After I deleted the current installation, is there a way for me to tell NT to move all directories to where they normally would be placed in a virgin installation as opposed to the directories it backed up from. It would have to restore quite a few directories to different places.

Hello sgordet,
Thank you for the update.
The default location of NinjaTrader's unique files should be in the C: Drive > Documents folder.
From your description, it sounds like this error is coming from One Drive backing up the Documents folder and preventing NinjaTrader from accessing the files it needs to move forward.
To resolve the behavior, please follow along with the video and guide below to Stop One Drive from backing up the Documents folder, then reinstall NinjaTrader to fix the file path, and finish by bringing your unique files back into the platform:- Video Demonstration - Please click here and follow along with this video to Stop One Drive from Backing up the Documents folder
- Written steps of video above - You may also click here for the written steps covered in the video linked above.
- The steps above should NOT remove any of your workspaces, add-ons, or other unique files.
Once you are done with the steps above, you are ready to keep using NinjaTrader.
Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you, Clayton. I read the directions. Will I need to import each of my adding manually and then reconfigure each of the tabs in every workspace? That would be a big job because I have quite a few third party indicators and workspaces. It seems to me contradictory to state that I won’t lose any custom information but will have to reinstall my addons.

Hello sgordet,
Thank you for the update.
No part of my steps says that the add-ons will be gone or need to be reimported. If the steps are done properly and you haven't already deleted those files, then they should be good once you finish.
As I previously said:- The steps above should NOT remove any of your workspaces, add-ons, or other unique files.
So, do the steps and see what happens.

I’m sorry, Clayton. I’m nervous about this. “Do the steps and see what happens” isn’t confidence building.
At the end of the written documentation you pointed me to:
“After the application is reinstalled, you should be able to import your NinjaScript add-on and use the app without any further errors appearing.”

Hello sgordet,
Thank you for the update.
This is included because many users who are stuck at this are in the middle of trying to import more/new/additional add-ons.
Either way, if you want to resolve the issue, you must follow the prior steps.- Then, if your add-ons are gone or missing, you would unfortunately have to reimport them.
- We can provide steps to get NinjaTrader working, but it would be up to you and the developer of your various add-ons to get them working again if they aren't after our prior steps.
Again, the prior steps shouldn't cause anything to disappear if you just follow them in the order they are provided.
But at the end of the day, you agreed to the 3rd party user agreement that said you would investigate 3rd party issues with the 3rd party developer if they arise. Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.Clayton G.NinjaTrader Customer Service

Hello sgordet,
Thank you for your patience.
If you are successful in stopping One Drive this should fix the file path after you have uninstalled and reinstalled NinjaTrader.
Then, the rest of your files should be in the correct location.- However, it is possible you will need to go to the Control Center > New > NinjaScript Editor > Compile > Right-click > Click "Add References" > Then add the references to all of the .DLL files again since they are no longer located on One Drive.
Then finally, you may have to go through all of the folders once they have been brought to the local computer and manually delete any "Duplicate" files that were created.- Something that can happen if One Drive is connected to two devices simultaneously is that it will create duplicate files with the device name at the end of the file.
- For example: Go to Documents > NinjaTrader 8 > Do you see more than one "config" file?
- Is there an extra one like Config-Copy or Config-Laptop#### or Config-OtherPCUserName?
- If yes, you would need to go through and remove all of the duplicate files that have this extra extension at the end.
- Once all of those are deleted, you would be set back up and ready to go.
- For example: Go to Documents > NinjaTrader 8 > Do you see more than one "config" file?

I did everything per the instructions. I received no error messages during the install.
There was only one config file. I had no problem stopping the One Drive sync.
The recovery folder is in the correct place, and there are backups of all my workspaces there.
I deleted a workspace to see if the exception was no longer occurring, but it is.
Is there a way that I can make certain that the program is pointing to the correct documents folder, and do you have any suggestions?

Hello sfordet,
Thank you for the updates.
You could also check to make sure the "Windows Controlled Folder" setting is Off.- Whenever "Access is denied", it is normally from another program or Windows turning on a setting that prevents NinjaTrader from editing the files or folders it needs to operate.
- You can also make sure the Windows Firewall and Antivirus software (If you have it) are not affecting NinjaTrader either:
Windows Controlled Folder Access
Ensure that the Windows Controlled Folder Access is not preventing you from accessing the necessary folders:- From your Windows desktop, select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.
- Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings.
- Under Controlled folder access, select Manage Controlled folder access.
- Switch the Controlled folder access setting to Off.
For more information visit the publicly available site below: - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...ndows-security
Windows Firewall
Ensure that NinjaTrader has been allowed through the Windows Firewall on all networks. Please follow along with this infographic:
Antivirus Software
Ensure that NinjaTrader has been added to any 'Exceptions' or 'Allowed Programs/Apps' kind of list within your antivirus software.- If you need to add NinjaTrader manually, the file path is as follows:
- This PC > Local Disk (C: > Program Files > NinjaTrader 8 > bin > NinjaTrader.exe
- If you are unsure of how to do this, what antivirus software is on your computer
