moving ninjatrader 8 to another pc

    Hello
I wish to move my actual ninjatrader8 to another pc.

main part to move are "templates", for the chart itself and for every indicator I use.

may I know which folders are involved?

so I can easly make a copy of such templates?

well, I also need to reinstall all indicators, third parties indicators too, but I think I should do that manually.

    I use NT8 8.0.28 lifetime license

Have you tried using NT's own builtin backup and restore feature?

    Old Machine:
    Tools > Export > Backup File ...

    New Machine:
    Tools > Import > Backup File ...

      Hello hellboy78,

      Thank you for posting.

The following instructions will explain how to back up your custom NinjaTrader files to a second computer.
      • Open NinjaTrader on the computer you wish to backup your files from and disconnect from any active connections
      • Go to Tools > Export > Backup File
      • Select which items you would like to backup and click 'Export'
      • Email or Save the file to an external storage device. The file can be found in the Documents\NinjaTrader Backup folder on your PC

As you create your backup, you can choose what folders are included in the file. Many users exclude historical chart data, log and trace files, and Market Replay data to reduce the file size. If you are using any 3rd-party add-ons, we would recommend creating one backup with your NinjaScript files and one without.

To import the backup file on your other computer, do the following:
      • Open the email with the backup file, or connect your external storage and save the backup file to a destination of your choosing such as the Desktop or Downloads folder
      • Go to Tools > Import > Backup File... > select your downloaded Backup File

Please note your new computer will have a different Machine ID, resulting in any saved passwords for your account connections being removed out of security. You may re-input your credentials in the Connections > configure window. You will also need to contact any 3rd party vendors and let them know that your Machine ID has changed. You can locate your new Machine ID in the Control Center > Help > About window.

A visual walkthrough of the Backup process may be found here in our Help Center .

Please let us know if we may provide further assistance.
