AI not answering question, can anyone help me?

I have a AMP Futures brokerage account with a CQG data feed. Ninja Trader is the only platform I have ever used (simulator). I want to go live, but learned that AMP no longer has access to Ninja Trader live. I would like to purchase a Ninja Trader plan. My question is how much is a Ninja Trader plan if I want to continue to use AMP as my broker? I opened a support ticket at Ninja Trader, but the AI response was not helpful. Is there anyone on the Ninja Trader staff, or even a fellow forum member who can help answer my question? I'm just looking for a simple answer!

Also, if possible, could you tell me how much it would cost to use the Ninja Trader platform for live trading if I opened a brokerage account with Ninja Trader.

I really need someone to help guide me through this process. I wish to start trading live within the next couple of weeks.

I notice you joined this forum prior to 2014.

By any chance, did you ever happen to buy a lifetime license?

It would be especially nice if you happened to have bought
a lifetime license prior to July 2014. Extra kudos if it was
    a Multi-Broker lifetime license.

That date is significant because that's about when NT bought
the remains of the failed Mirus brokerage and rebranded it
    as their own 'NinjaTrader Brokerage'.

All lifetime licenses purchased prior to that date were
'grandfathered-in', such that a lifetime license purchased,
say circa 2013, would still have access to all the broker
adapters they had at the time of purchase. This is esp
important as time went on because NT mgmt started
dropping most third-party broker support after that date,
so having an older license key became a good thing.

    In fact ....
Ask AMP and they'll tell you "yes, actually, we do support
NinjaTrader, but only if you have a grandfathered license".
Well, since most people don't have one of those, AMP might
fail to mention this little known 'legacy feature' made available
only for older (ie, grandfathered) lifetime license key holders.

So, my point is, if you did buy a lifetime license around the
time you joined this forum, you may, I think, still be in luck.

    -=o=-

Nowadays, license keys are obsolete -- NT has switched their
purchase plans to a subscription based model (though they do
still offer a one-time fee lifetime option), but the word 'license'
itself has been scrubbed from the latest 8.1 releases. But, for
folks who previously purchased them (or got their license key
through a prop firm, like Apex or Leeloo), license keys can be
'imported' into your new member dashboard at the new member
portal at the NinjaTrader.com website. The 'import' process is
somewhat of a misnomer, since all it really does is read from
the license server and transfer the 'capabilities' and 'features'
of the license key to your new NinjaTrader.com member account.

Like I said, the newer 8.1 releases do not use license keys. You
now have to login to the desktop software with the username and
password from your NinjaTrader.com member account. Much to
the consternation of many users, this new login requirement has
no bypass feature (ie, no 'Remember Me' checkbox option) to
    simplify the startup/login process. Bummer.

    -=o=-

    EDIT:
    Did you know?
If you have an M/B lifetime license, importing it will transfer
the M/B feature to your member account. Otherwise, you
can still enjoy that same M/B feature, but the new payment
scheme for new users requires you pay $99/month.

That M/B lifetime license purchased prior to the 8.1 releases
saves you the $99/month that new users must pay.

That M/B lifetime license purchased prior to July 2014 allows
you to have brokerage accounts supported by any of the same
broker adapters from the time period of your purchase. That
would include AMP, which uses the CQG adapter.

The Single/Broker license from the same time period should
have access to the same broker adapters (I think), but you
have to email NT Support and tell them the one single adapter
type, er, I mean, connection type, you want made available in
    the Connections configuration dialog.

    Just my 2˘.

      Hello patpat,

Thank you for posting on the NinjaTrader forums.

Let me start off by clarifying that 'NinjaTrader Plans' are only available for users that have a NinjaTrader Brokerage account - not an external brokerage account like in your case.
Since you are looking to use an AMP account you will want to reach out to their support team to verify commissions, margin requirements, etc

In the event that you want to keep using that AMP account with NinjaTrader we can definitely assist with this, like bltdavid mentioned above, do you have an existing Lifetime license that was purchased prior to July 15th, 2014?

In the event that you are not going to be using AMP as your broker moving forward, we can assist with the account opening process as well. You do not need to purchase an account plan in order to practice/live trade. Do not confuse this with a market data subscription as you'll still need this in order to see live data on your charts. If this is the route you'd like to take, we can always provide more information on data feed costs, just trying to not overwhelm you with information.

      Thank you in advance!

Thank you Luis, and to the forum member, who answered my post. I do not have a lifetime membership. So I will not be able to trade live on Ninja Trader with my AMP account.

I have been training and practicing daily on the Ninja Trader platform for over 12 years (Market Replay and Sim trading). It's the only platform I know, and I'm very comfortable moving around on it.

AMP offers other platforms free of charge. I downloaded one of these platforms a couple of days ago (Quantower), and decided I would give this a try since I already have a brokerage account set up with them. But I quickly abandoned this idea. I was so lost. I need Ninja Trader, absolutely.

I will be funding a Ninja Trader account this weekend, and downloading NT 8 (I've been using NT 7 all this time)

        I have some questions, please:

How much do I need to deposit to get a live data feed? (I do realize this is not the same as margin requirements, which I believe is $500 per contract for my instrument of choice, the ES)

You offer paid versions of the platform, and free versions, right? Assuming this is correct, what features does one get with a paid version that don't come with a free version?

The only LIVE TRADING feature I'm concerned with is the Chart Trader function. This is a must-have. Is this feature included on the free version of NT 8 with a funded NT brokerage account?

Will you help me chose a data feed, and set it up? I set up a data feed with AMP futures over a decade ago. It's the only broker and data feed I've ever had. So I remember nothing about how to set it up. I think my CQG data free connection is offered free of charge at AMP. I'm not sure.

How much should I expect to pay for a data feed? Do I pay the data feed provider directly? It's pretty sad how clueless I am about how these things work.

Thank you for helping me figure this out. I am so excited to start this new chapter.

          patpat,

The amount of money you deposit is completely based on what instrument you want to trade plus your risk tolerance.

e.g an ES instrument requires $500 to trade, so long as you have funds above that margin requirement you will be able to place a trade. If you deposit $1100, your risk tolerance is your margin - margin requirement; in this case it would be $600 before you no longer have enough funds to cover your margin requirement.

There's only one version of the platform, if you opt for a paid Lifetime account you can gain access to lower commissions and the Order Flow Suite. All versions of NinjaTrader come with Chart Trader.

Market data can be turned on from the account dashboard once the account has been opened and funded and can be paid with a credit/debit card; more info here.

Thank you and please let us know if there's anything else we can assist with!

Thank you, Luis. I understand the margin requirement and risk tolerance. I am just curious how much I need to fund an account initially so that I may get data flowing on my chart, not necessarily place a trade. Not yet anyway.

That is solely and completely up to you.
