    Workspace does not load?


    Folks, what would cause a workspace not to load?

    Without apparent change, my workspace is no longer loading. This workspace contains a lot of complexity, so I really don't want to rebuild it. When I attempt to load, I do not get "Restoring workspace XXXX..." message in the log tab. It brings up one empty chart, and then does nothing more. The workspace XML file itself appears complete and intact.

    When I go into Tools -> Database Management -> Restore Workspace, and selecting my last file, I will get a notice in the log tag of restoring. Then, it just sits there and does nothing more.

    How to diagnose? Thanks,

    Thank you for posting.

    To test if you have any old versions of your Workspace available for recovery, do the following:
    • Go to the Control Center > Tools > Database Management window and expand the 'Restore Workspace' section
    • Click 'Restore', then select any recovery versions of your Workspace that may have been automatically saved with its windows still available.

    After selecting a recovery workspace that works for you, you may rename and save it again from the Control Center > Workspaces drop-down.

      Christopher, thanks, although no progress. I load a backup workspace, and it does nothing afterwards. You can see from the log file that it starts the load, but nothing more occurs. From the file manager, I can see that it's not a zero-byte file, so the full workspace appears to be there.

      Testing this further, I can not get any of my dozen or so workspaces to load. So, this indicates to me there's something at the system level, rather than an individual workspace issue.

      Also, this is after a fresh reboot, and I download and installed the latest NT version this morning.

        Do you have a backup of NinjaTrader created? If so can you please go to Tools->Import->Backup File->Select your backup file->Click Open then once completed restart NinjaTrader.

          Christopher, yep, I've attempted that too. While I can successfully restore from a backup workspace, I can't load it.

          Therefor, I can't restore any workspace on my machine. How can I diagnose? Thanks,

            So I may look into this further please send an email to [email protected] with "ATTN: Chris Jameson" in the subject line.

            In the message, please include the following:
            1.) A link to this forum thread.
            2.) A copy of your log and trace files.

            Please follow the steps below to manually attach your log and trace files to your email.
            • Open your NinjaTrader folder under, "Documents" (sometimes called, "My Documents")
            • Right click on the 'log' and 'trace' folders and select Send To> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
            • Send the 2 compressed folders as an attachment in your email
            • Once complete, you can delete these compressed folders.
