corruptd drowings
Good morning. I encountered an unexpected issue this morning: my drawings have been corrupted. Without making any changes to my settings, many indicators have altered their appearance, and some native NinjaTrader drawings, such as Fibonacci retracements, are no longer displaying. I am puzzled as to how this could have happened without any user intervention.I can provide before-and-after screenshots to illustrate the issue. I have already attempted to reinstall the indicators, but unfortunately, there has been no change in the issue. Im on 1.3.1.4 PhotosLast edited by XanderT; 02-14-2025, 04:47 AM.Tags: None

Hello XanderT,
Thank you for reaching out.
I recommend a repair to your NinjaTrader 8 platform to try fixing this error. To complete a repair, do the following:- Shut down NinjaTrader 8
- Go to your computer's Control Panel > Programs & Features (Note: search for 'Control Panel' to find it within the Windows Start Menu. This will be a different window than the Settings page)
- Left-click once on NinjaTrader 8 > select 'Repair' above the list of available programs
- Restart the platform after it finishes repairing, and test for this behavior again.
- Here is a video I made for your reference: https://www.screencast.com/t/5RH7MjuaQiG
Open NT8 and test for the same issues after.
Also I am seeing you are on a previous version of NT8. I would recommend you update to eliminate possible version variables.
To update to the latest version of NinjaTrader Desktop please follow the steps below.- Login into the NinjaTrader Account Dashboard
- Click "Download" in the bottom left-hand corner of the sidebar
- Next select "Download" in the "Most Recent Release" Window in the main screen
- Once the installation had downloaded, ensure any previous version of NinjaTrader is closed before running the installation package.
- Note: You may need to locate this in your "Downloads" folder in a Windows File Explorer

Hello XanderT ,
Do you happen to have OneDrive active? This is the most common cause of file issues.
We would next need to check if you have any errors at the script level:
Please follow the instructions below to see if the errors are coming from after compiling the indicators.- Open NinjaTrader
- From the Control Center select the New menu--> select NinjaScript Editor
- Right-click in the window and select Compile to compile all NinjaScript objects
- At the bottom of the NinjaScript Editor window, a new section will appear where you can find the error locations
- You can exclude the file referenced in the editor by double-clicking on the appropriate object type on the right of the NinjaScript Editor window. This will expand the object type folder. You can then select the file with a left-click--> right click on the object--> then select Open to begin debugging the file, Exclude From Compilation, or Remove to delete the file.
If you are unsure as to what the error is indicating, please send me a screenshot of the NinjaScript File column and Error column fully visible (not to be confused with the Code column)- To send a screenshot with Windows 7 or newer I would recommend using Windows Snipping Tool.
- Alternatively to send a screenshot press Alt + PRINT SCREEN to take a screenshot of the selected window. Then go to Start--> Accessories--> Paint, and press CTRL + V to paste the image. Lastly, save as a jpeg file and send the file as an attachment.
*We have also collected more comprehensive steps for resolving NinjaScript programming errors in this tip in our Help Guide:

Hello XanderT,
Thank you for your message.
In this case, let's try testing your platform in Safe Mode to verify if this behavior is caused by a 3rd-party add-on or is isolated to your Workspace using the steps below. Safe Mode will prevent NinjaTrader from:- Loading workspaces and connecting on start-up.
- Loading custom assemblies (3rd-party add-ons and NinjaScripts)
- Getting instrument updates from the server
- Go to the Windows Start Menu
- Search for NinjaTrader > select 'NinjaTrader (Safe Mode)'
- Once you have opened the platform in Safe Mode, you may manually connect to your Data Provider from the Connections dropdown
Once you are connected, open a new chart with no custom bar types, indicators, or templates and test for issues. Does the behavior persist on this blank Workspace in Safe Mode?
If not, please try opening your previous workspace from the Control Center > Workspaces dropdown. It may already appear as open. Hit 'close' and do not save, then re-open it again for your windows to appear. You will notice that no 3rd-party add-ons are available in Safe Mode. Does the behavior return to your regular Workspace in Safe Mode?
If not, restart NinjaTrader normally, and test for the behavior on your Workspace normally once more with your 3rd-party add-ons available. If the issue returns, we suggest rebuilding your workspace. Keep track of each add-on you implement to identify the cause of the behavior should it return. If the issue does not resurface, it confirms the error was isolated only to your other Workspace.
We also suggest backing up your workspace (Tools > Export > Backup) so you may restore a working version if the issue returns. Additional information about backups may be read here in our Help Center.
Please let us know the results of this test. We look forward to your response.

The problem is isolated to some third-party indicators (the ones I indicated in the photo I sent you), they were the indicators I had saved in my workspace until last night. Loading other third-party indicators there is no problem, including other indicators always from the same package as the ones that are giving problems. To be precise, the problematic indicators work very well in terms of calculation but their representation or their position has been compromised by something. I repeat, out of a package of 20 indicators from the developers in question, only the ones I had saved in my workspace are giving problems, all the others, both further third parties and native of Ninja, present in my work space are not giving problems. It's as if there is a persistent error only on 3-4 specific indicators that is not solved even with a new installation of both the indicator package of the developer and with a new installation of Ninja (I did upgrade to 1.4.1. and it didn't solve, uninstalled and reinstalled 1.3.1. and it is always present).

Hello XanderT ,
Thank you for your message.
Please note that our troubleshooting with 3rd party add-ons is limited and we advise reaching out to the Developer as they will be expert on their piece of software.
I would go as far as to advise you to remove them from your platform and try re-importing then again to see if their specific issues are corrected.
But, if you are open to completely re-installing NinjaTrader from scratch, that would account for anything having to do with the NinjaTrader core installation/files.
You may follow the steps listed below to completely uninstall and reinstall NinjaTrader "clean", and then transfer your custom information to the new installation if you wish.- Close all running applications.
- Navigate to your Documents folder > Right-click on the 'NinjaTrader 8' folder > Rename > rename the folder to 'NinjaTrader 8 OLD'. DO NOT delete this folder.
- Uninstall NinjaTrader within Windows Control Panel.
- Navigate to C:\ > Program File (x86) > Delete the 'NinjaTrader 8' folder if it exists
- Reboot your PC.
Then reinstall- Login into the NinjaTrader Account Dashboard
- Click "Download" in the bottom left-hand corner of the sidebar
- Once the installation had downloaded, ensure any previous version of NinjaTrader is closed before running the installation package.
This will now be a "brand new" platform when you launch it.
Please launch, login, and connect. Open a chart to see if it is loading properly. If it is, I would advise you go to Tools -> import and then start importing your custom scripts 1 by 1.
Alternatively, you may follow these steps to reimport your old, custom information to the new installation if you wish.
First, shut down NinjaTrader, then open the new 'NinjaTrader 8' Documents folder in one window, and the 'NinjaTrader 8 OLD' folder in another (right-click > Open in New Window).
In the new 'NinjaTrader 8' folder, rename the 'workspaces', 'templates', and 'bin' folders to 'workspaces NEW', 'templates NEW', and 'bin NEW'
Next, copy/paste the existing 'workspaces', 'templates', and 'bin' folders from the 'NinjaTrader 8 OLD' folder into the new 'NinjaTrader 8' folder.
Please note that if the issue is re-introduced when you copy over your custom bin files, the issue would point to a possibly "corrupt" workspace or custom scripts affecting platform functionality.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.Erick P.NinjaTrader Customer Service
