new position in oppossite direction of existing position

Hello, I'm using superdom and charts. I place orders with superDOM with atm on, and i move handles on the chart. I would like a way to create a new position opposite of the current position. an example would be If I want to take advantage of a counter-trend, or pullback without exiting my first position. I want to also be able to adjust the SL/TP handles for this 2nd trade. I have tried making a 2nd DOM window, but it doesn't appear to behave the way I want it to.

Can anyone advise on the correct settings to achieve this?

Thank you for reaching out.

Unfortunately this cannot be be done using the same account. A position in the opposite direction, would flatten the original position in the same account.

If you are sim trading on NT8 Desktop you can try adding a new SimAccount. Then you can switch to the other account to place your opposing trade.

To add and view more simulation accounts in the latest version of NinjaTrader, you will need to turn on Multi-provider mode first.

Once the platform is open, go to "Tools" -> Options -> and make sure that the "Multi Providers" option is enabled.

Then you will see the "Sim101" account appear (default simulation account). You can then also right click and then add additional simulation accounts if you please.

So if you are in a long trade, you've taken profit and left some runners with the SL at break even. the Price decides to turn around. If I want to short the position I have to close the runners? There isn't any way around it?

Thank you for your inquiry.

That is correct.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to have 2 open opposite positions with the same instrument/contract, and with the same account, as they would cancel each other out.

You would need a sub-account to be able to hold opposite positions in the same instrument.
