    unable to log in.



    people with nt,


    i began renting a server (vps) in europe on the 3rd of february of 2025. this is a provider i have used in the past without problem.


    seemingly nt systems are blocking that server - ip address as i have not been able to log in, not even once.


    i can log in to the nt platform from my desktop at home without problem, so my account is not the problem.


    on that server all the services i typically use will work without problem: firefox, mailfence.com, mega.io, everything.


    however, if i try to open nt's client portal a 404 error message will be generated, and if i try to log in to the nt platform a message will be generated about an unknown error and contacting support.



    i privately emailed nt support twice and so far i have only received two useless artificial non-intelligence replies. ¿how could this situation be solved so that i can work on nt from that server?

    Thank you for reaching out.

    NinjaTrader support are not Network technicians.

    Connection issues stem from the network path of the machine that is connecting to the data servers.

    A connection state between NinjaTrader and your broker/market data vendor is not dictated by NinjaTrader. The NinjaTrader application only reports the connection state as it is reported by the API you are connected through.
    NinjaTrader behaves like a radio receiver in that it receives signals from the connected server. If the signals are not coming through, the underlying broker/market data vendor API reports this to the NinjaTrader application which in turn reports this back to you.​
    Common reasons that contribute to connection stability are:
    • ISP issues
    • Hardware firewall changing IP addresses frequently
    • Dynamic IP addresses changing frequently intraday. This usually happens once a week but you may want to check with your ISP. If they do change daily, requesting a static IP address may help.


    Since the factor not letting you connect here is the VPS, as you said you can can connect under regular circumstances (from your personal PC) this would make our troubleshooting on the matter even more limted.

    If you have not yet reached out to your VPS to see what resources they have in circumstances like this, I would advise you start there.

    We can only further provide you with our Network Troubleshooting steps that we have.

    Please check for software such as (corporate) firewalls, spyware and anti-virus software that could be blocking NinjaTrader.
    In some cases the modem/router has built-in software that prevents the connection to be established.
    It is common with a software update, for Windows Defender to block the app again, so please make sure exceptions for NT8 are added to any anti-virus or firewall you may have.

    To resolve this, I recommend the following steps (test for the issue after each step):
    • Restart your modem and (if applicable) router
    • Restart your PC
    • Also, ensure that your computer is not turning off your Network Adapter to conserve power:
      • Restart NinjaTrader
      • Right-click on your Start button
      • Select 'Device Manager'
      • Expand 'Network Adapters'
      • Right-click on your Network Adapter and select Properties > Power Management
      • Uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' option
      • Click 'OK' to save the changes
      • Do this for all Network Adapters
    • Clear your DNS
    • If you are using a VPN, please turn it off and try connecting again.
    • If possible, try running your computer directly to your router/modem using an ethernet cable, or vice versa, through a WiFi connection if already hard-wired in
    • Ensure exceptions have been added into any firewall/antivirus/backup programs for these folders:
      • C:\Users\<your username>\Documents\NinjaTrader 8
      • C:\Program Files \NinjaTrader 8
    • If the above steps do not help, contact your ISP and let them know you are experiencing a highly unstable connection. An issue of connectivity may exist on their end.

      here at the nf fora at least i have received a reply, which was never the case over email.



      the provider i use is https://www.time4vps.com/ . it is a great provider and their uptime is outstanding compared to other providers i have evaluated previously. i have emailed their support staff and we have already carried out tracert tests which show there is nothing wrong with my server when trying to connect to account.ninjatrader.com [35.186.238.68]:

      i am convinced that nt systems are erroneously blocking my server.


      nt's website will load without any issues on my server:

      however, if click on the log in link, nt systems will apparently block my instance:

      i downloaded the msi file to install nt to my laptop and transferred it to my server to be able to install the nt platform there. if i try to log in this message will be displayed:

      for some reason, websites like youtube seem to identify my server as if it was a russian ip (definitely it is not):

      as i reported previously, this vps is located at a specialized data center in europe and all services run without problem. the ip address is actually fixed and i provided it by email to nt support in case it is necessary to whitelist it or anything similar. some months ago i installed nt and other platforms in a server from this provider and everything went perfectly.


      i can only think that nt systems must be making a mistake with the ip for this server and whitelisting it should solve these problems. i have had this issue since monday so i will appreciate if nt can provide a solution soon.

        It looks like your vps is blocking while your connection is working well. It is done because of IP blacklisting, Geo-restrictions, firewalls or security rules blocking data center IPs or Reverse DNS issues. You can fix this problem by using :
        • VPN or proxy
        • By requesting new IP from your VPS provider
        • Set up Reverse DNS
        • Change User-Agent
        • contact NT Support
