Resetting Contract Size to 1 when Changing Instrument Traded

Hello I often switch between trading 5 Micro NQ (half-size) and 1 NQ (full-size) during the trading day

I have noticed when switching between MNQ and NQ, the contract size stays at 5, which has caused me a few times to mistakenly enter the market with 5 NQs, leading to already blowing 3 accounts from being severely oversized by accident.

I feel like this is a severe issue with NinjaTrader if it's by design, as it obviously leads to errors.

I would like to know if there is something that can be done to reset the contract size to 1 each time you change the security in order to stop this from happening.

Thank you for reaching out.

The quantity after each order submission in the Chart Trader, will revert back to the quantity that was set in the ATM Template that was used.

This would mean that the ATM last used in your case had a quantity of 5 selected.

You can set the ATM strategy to None if you do not want it to keep changing the contract quantity.

Or you could also have two templates, one saved with a QTY of 5 and another with it saved with a QTY and just select the template for the QTY you want to trade.


Unforunately this is how the Chart Trader is designed at the moment.
