Playback player not initiating chart movement

    HI,
    I need help!
I have a problem with playback. The chart doesn't move when I hit playback. The data is there, because I can see the file for the instrument and the relevant date on "show available data'. Also, when I select playback an open chart will snap to midnight on the date selected, and the playback 'slider' appears.

Then, when the green play button is pressed the time stamp moves forward as if the data were being streamed but there's no movement at all on the chart. HOWEVER, what's weird is that I can drag the cursor forward and the chart will update to wherever I release the button.
The player is obviously connecting to the chart, otherwise I wouldn't be able to change the chart by dragging the cursor. But what it won't do is drive itself!

Any help would be very greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    GM

    Hello Retsdon,

Thank you for posting on the NinjaTrader forums.

    Playback Connection Configuration
    • Reconnect the Playback Connection:
      1. Disconnect the Playback Connection via Connections > Disconnect Playback.
      2. Reconnect it via Connections > Connect Playback.
    • Ensure the correct Trading Hours template is applied for the chart.
    Playback Slider and Speed
    • If the slider moves but charts don’t update, try adjusting the playback speed. Ensure the speed isn’t set to an extremely low value.

Please reach out if you are still not able to see data as expected!

      Hi,
Thanks for the response. I've tried as you suggested but still no joy.
      1) The playback window opens and the corresponding chart goes to the appropriate date.
      2) I hit play and the white time digits on the top of the playback silder start to roll over - I've tried all speeds up to X100. The slider moves across faster and the digits roll faster.
      3) But the Chart does't move at all. The same last candle sits there.
If I grab the slider with the mouse and move it forwards, the chart will move but there's no additional data addeed.

I'm wondering if it's perhaps some kind of software problem - like a missing driver or something?

There's actually a degree of urgency about this so any futher suggestions would be really helpful.

      Thanks and regards,
      GM

PS. I've just tried submitting an order on the playback chart with charttrader and I get the Error message 'Playback 101. There is no market data availavble to drive the simulation engine...."
PPS. OK, I did a search on the error message and found a couple of threads. So:-
      1) I updated all my instruments
      2) I went to Documents / Ninjatrader8/ db/ replay on my PC and deleted all the existing data files and re-downloaded them.

Tried again and the chart is still not moving and I'm still gettting the same Playback Error message...
So now I really need some help....

          Hello Retsdon,

The only other thing that I can think of is if you are loading a chart for an instrument that doesn't match the data range that you are currently seeing.

e.g if you have data loaded for September 2024, you should put XX 12-24 or XX DEC24 versus XX 03-25 or XX MAR25.

Please note that forums are not monitored as often as our inbound support email, if you require further assistance we recommend always reaching out to clientservices@ninjatrader[dot]com.

          Thank you.
