    Backtesting question

I've been backtesting a strategy using multiple data and timeframe inputs for a futures strategy with no problem testing multiple weeks at a time. Today I added a stock data element (10 second data) and now I can only backtest one week. I haven't needed to previously download data or use historical data, it just works for futures only. What do I need to do? This is using Kinetick.

    Hello TrueFlowTrading,

    Thank you for posting.

When requesting tick data which is used to build Second bars from Kinetick between the hours of 9:30am ET to 4:30pm EST you will have access to 8 days of historical tick data.

If you request the data outside those hours the full 180 days is available. After you request the data, it will be downloaded to your historical database and cache, and you will be able to access this data at any time.

This is done to reduce server loads during times of high demand, such a peak trading hours, as when server loads are elevated to high levels, the result is all data, including live data may be slowed.

This allows Kinetick to consistently deliver fast, non filtered data to all customers.

Let me know if I may be of further assistance.

I'm not sure I did it right. Historical Data->Download->select instrument and date range->check Tick->Last->Download

I did this and it's still not working, do I need to do anything else for the backtest to work?

In order to download additional Tick data you will want to do this process after 4:30 PM EST.

Why does Kinetick limit historical tick data to 8 days during trading hours (9:30 am ET to 4:30 pm ET) but provide 180 days of data outside these hours?
