InteractiveBroker-Gateway10.30.1t & NT8.0.28.0 compatibility

    InteractiveBroker-Gateway10.30.1t & NT8.0.28.0 compatibility

    Hi, because Interactive Broker announced that IBKR-gateway 10.19.2 will be "desupported" as of 3/20/25, I switch to using 10.30.1t with the Ninja Trader Desktop platform that Ive been using, 8.0.28.0 this morning.
    When Ninja Trader’s strategy submitted to open a trade, it issued a fatal error and disconnected with IBKR-GW.
    Error message: 4002 Interactive Brokers: Lost or unable to establish communications with IB TWS/GW. Please verify TWS/GW is running on the target machine and try reconnecting or contact support if the issue persists (Panic).

    Then I reconnected Ninja Trader to IBKR-GW, which was still running, and issued a flatten order, to close the trade. Once again, Ninja Trader issued the same fatal error.

    If it helps with diagnosing the issues, below are the messages in the IBKR-GWs log after I issued the flatten order and Ninja Trader crashed:

    My questions:
    1. Is NinjaTrader Desktop 8.0.28.0 compatible with IBKR-GW 10.30.1t? If not which versions of Ninja Trader are compatible with the 10.30.1t version?
    3. Is there anything I can set on either IBKR-GW 10.30.1t or Ninja Trader version 8.0.28.0 to make them compatible to avoid the error I encountered?

    Thank you for posting.

    With the current version of NinjaTrader 8.0.28.0 please use Gateway 10.23.2a. If you are running another version of Gateway please uninstall your existing version via the Windows Control Panel, and then install 10.23.2.a via the following link:Once Gateway 10.23.2a has been installed, please ensure that the configuration in our Connection Guide for Gateway has been completed at the link below.Let me know if I may be of further assistance.

      Hi Christopher,
      Thanks for your prompt response, unfortunately after I downloaded and installed 10.23.2a, IB-GW still complained that 10.23.2a will also no longer be supported after 3/20/25. As it stated in the message, the minimum supported version is 10.30.1.

      Or do I have to upgrade my NT to a newer version in order to be compatible with the IB-Gateway 10.30.1t ?

        I have exactly the same issue. For now I am running with 10.23.2a. I also run with NT 8.0.28.0. Can you provide a stable version that works with IBKR Gateway 10.30.1t ?

          Our development team is aware and are working on supporting a newer version of Gateway. Unfortunately I do not have a specific timeline however this will be updated prior to the March cutoff date and you can view what version of Interactive Brokers Gateway is officially supported here.

            Hi Christopher,
            Could you please check if Ninja Trader Version 8.1.4.1 is compatible with IB-GW 10.30.1? Or the 8.0.18.2, or any of the 8.1.*.* version would work with IB-GW 10.30.1 onwards?

              Currently both version 8.1.4.1 and 8.0.28.0 officially support Gateway 10.23.2a.

                I dont know if anybody tested it but NinjaTrader 8.0.28.0 also dont seem to work with the IB TWS10.33.1b that is seen as supported on the IB connection guide from that link.

                I tested yesterday and all live charts are stuck at "loading data" when using NinjaTrader 8.0.28.0 with IB TWS10.33.1b

                I had to revert back to NinjaTrader 8.0.28.0 with IB TWS10.23.2a for live charts to work again

                  While the developers are working on supporting a newer version (minimum 10.30.1t), could you ask them to fix the API where NT would resubmit a market order when it had already been received and executed by IBKR? So, the following is the scenario:
                  1. NT submit a market order to close a position to IBKR-GW
                  2. IBKR-GW received, acknowledged and executed the market order and then send an acknowledgement to NT
                  3. Instead of receiving the IBKR-GW acknowledgement and update the positions/accounts/order information, somehow NT misunderstood and thought that the submission didn't get executed and resubmit another market order, where IBKR-GW would then open a new position.

                  Should I submit this bug report using another subject title or just leave it here?

                    Hello Ben,

                    To clarify did this occur when running the unsupported version Gateway 10.30.1t? If so since this version was not thoroughly tested by our development team when running an unsupported version you may experience unexpected behavior with data, orders, etc. Once we have updated the supported version of Gateway please let me know if you see this behavior again while running the officially supported version of Gateway.

                      Hi Christopher,
                      No, I couldn't even execute an order with 10.30.1t without an error. This bug was found when I run NT 8.0.28.0 with 10.19.2. No, I haven't tried it NT 8.0.28.0 with 10.23.2a as I had to launch our strategies Live. Could you please ask the development team to check if this was verified or test this out for 10.30.1t to make sure it works accordingly?

                        Is there any update on the progress? It's been 6 weeks now and in 3 weeks the current IBKR gateway version will no longer work!!

                          Our development team is currently testing a supported version go Gateway and this will be completed before the cutoff date for 10.23.2a.
