Interactive Brokers retiring required version of TWS

      Hi NT Support,

      I am a HK user with IB and NT, I have been waiting for NT to make the release supporting the latest ibgateway for few months because IB disable the Never Lock Trader Workstation option for HK-users.

      To meet Compliance requirements, users with an IB-HK account will not be able to disable the TWS 30-minute session timeout.

      "Never Lock Trader Workstation" Setting

      Note: For IBHK API users, it is commended to use IB Gateway instead of TWS. It is because all IBHK users cannot choose “Never Lock Trader Workstation” in TWS – Global Configuration – Lock and Exit. If there is inactivity, TWS will be locked and there will be API disconnection.

      Without the "Never Lock Trader Workstation" option, the TWS will locked at most every 30 mins, that's why using ibgateway to submit api orders is the only option for us. Also, submit api orders via ibgateway is definitely better than TWS, if it is really necessary for NT to stop supporting one of them, why don't NT keep supporting ibgateway? This is specifically design for user for this purpose.

      Please advise what can I do now? I patiently wait for NT to make the promised update in the past few months and I cannot use TWS to replace ibgateway now.

        Hello NT Support,

        this is really ridiculous.
        I asked about the update in another post already two months ago and was assured that everything would be fine. It makes no sense to have two platforms open in parallel.
        Therefore, after 12 years with NT, I will say goodbye to NT and have to switch to the TWS.
        I only regret that I paid for the lifetime and multi-broker license in 2013.

        Therefore the IB Gateway is only a lean and extract version of the TWS, it should be no problem for developers to adapt this.

            I am still waiting for the NT support team to provide assistance. I mentioned my problem in different posts but no NT support team reply me yet. My problem is, as a IBHK user, the TWS will be locked every 30 minutes, I cannot disable this setting.

            Since NT no longer support for the ibgateway, I need the said assistance for helping me to use NT with TWS. Please don't ignore my post this time, I don't want to keep posting the same question again and again.
