    error trying to update NinjaTrader to latest version

    Hi , I'm on 8.1.2.1 64 bit and trying to update 8.1.4.1 and I get this message that "ninjatrader Setup wizard ended prematurely"
    Made sure that my OS ( win 11) is up to date and no updates are missing, checked my framework and is also up to date. My system meets all expectations.
    My current version 8.1.2.1 is currently working.
    Any recommendations would be appreciated

    Thank you for reaching out.

    Please note that installation problems are generally local system problems that we are limited in troubleshooting as we are not PC/Windows technicians.

    That being said, I suggest running the below, publicly available Fix It utility by Microsoft.

    This program is able to look into many Windows items that may be stopping the installation, first use it to Uninstall NinjaTrader.



    Then, once these steps are completed, download and install NinjaTrader:
    • Login into the NinjaTrader Account Dashboard
    • Click "Download" in the bottom left-hand corner of the sidebar
    • Next select "Download" in the "Most Recent Release" Window in the main screen
    • Once the installation had downloaded, ensure any previous version of NinjaTrader is closed before running the installation package.
      • Note: You may need to locate this in your "Downloads" folder in a Windows File Explorer
    After the installation package is completed you will be able to log into to the latest version of NinjaTrader Desktop with the connection guide linked below:

    If you receive an error message when attempting to install, please send us a screenshot of what it reports.

      I do not wish to uninstall ninja trader because I do not want to lose my trade history. There must be another way to solve this instead of uninstalling ninjatrader.

        Thank you for your message.

        This process would only unistall the platform from your Program Files.

        As long as your NinjaTrader 8 folder in your Documents remains, you will not lose any of your previous info.

        If you would like, you can even make a back up file to make sure you do not lose information.

          I uninstalled ninja and tried to reinstall but I still get the same message, it will not allow the installation,
          any suggestions?

            Thank you for your message.

            If you are still getting the same error when installing, this would point to your Operating system needing to be reviewed.

            I would recommend running an update of your Windows operating system to make sure you have the latest version installed. You can view a publicly available guide detailing this process at the following link; https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...ion=Windows_10

              Thank you for your response , I tried multiple things including the new feature of windows repair/restore in windows 11. Nothing has worked, I removed everything in the registry left by the previous install. I am able to download and install Ninja trader 7.0 . It opens and runs. However if i try to update its still fails. I do not want to do a factory reset on my machine if all possible.
              I checked the framework and I exceed it .

              Why does Ninja 7 install and run and the new version doesn't?
              Please help.

                Thank you for your message.

                This would have to do with your Windows operating system.

                It may be able to run the old NT7 installer, but seems to be missing crucial components for more modern installation packages.

                I had a client who had a version of Windows 11 that had reached the end of service and was having a similar issue.

                Can you check to see which version you have? Windows 11 version 21H2 reached its end of service as of October 8, 2024. This means it no longer receives security updates or support. Reference: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/relea...

                The solution involved a reset process from these settings:

                However, this is just a note and not a suggested fix to your issues, as these are Windows specific processes that we are not trained to advise on.

                I would advise you check in Microsoft forums to see if there is a process you can follow to troubleshoot your Windows 11.

                  I completely reset windows to factory , I was able to install the latest version, now when I open ninja i get multiple errors , as show in the screenshot

                  what do you think is going on?

                    Thank you for your message.

                    I am glad you were able to get the latest NinjaTrader 8 installed after resetting your Windows.

                    The error you are receiving now, is most likely due to a database file issue present in your Documents -> NinjaTrader 8 folder

                    You may rename your database to resolve this using the following steps:
                    • Shutdown NinjaTrader, and navigate to the Windows File Explorer (Windows Key + E)
                    • Go to the Documents/NinjaTrader 8/db folder
                    • Right-click on "NinjaTrader.sqlite" and rename it to "NinjaTrader OLD.sqlite"
                    • Here is a reference video: Renaming the Database File


                    When you restart NinjaTrader, a fresh database file will automatically be created by the software. You should then be able to connect and your Charts should be loading properly.
                    • Unfortunately, the following items stored in the old database will be lost - custom Trading Hours templates, custom Instruments/Instrument Lists, historical trade execution data, and saved Strategy Analyzer backtest results
                    • Locally added Sim accounts will be removed, Sim101 will be reset, and any strategies will need to be re-added to the Strategies tab


                    To prevent running into situations where you can potentially lose important data, we advise running regular backups via the built-in Backup feature in NinjaTrader.
