Schwab Connection (beta)

Hello Support,

Thank you for X-Mas gift of providing the Schwab Connection (beta) API in NT8.1.4 revision.

I am currently running NT8.0.27.1 on my Desktop PC and my laptop computer.

I am heavily invested in my NT8 custom resources on my Desktop PC and there is little information on whether or not migration to the new Dashboard and NT8.1.4 Version will impact my custom add-on, indicators, etc. and login abilities on my desktop PC. For the time being, I would like to upgrade my laptop computer only to new version and operate my desktop PC with the older NT8.0.27.1 until I know of possible issues of concern, if any.

My question is: If I only upgrade my laptop computer to the new NT8.1.4 version and go through the migration process, would that impact operability of my Desktop PC remaining with NT8.0.27.1? Can I still use my original credentials on my PC?

Thank you for posting on the NinjaTrader forums.


When upgrading to 8.1+ you will be required to log in with the same credentials as you do on the Account dashboard. If you don't have a set of credentials for this you will need to create some here.

As far as your add-ons and custom indicators go - it is possible that some may stop working on 8.1 if these are not compatible with this version. We recommend reaching out to your vendor(s) ahead of the change before solely moving to 8.1.

I am not quite clear and have the following 2 questions:

1. Can I run NT8.0.27.1 on my desktop PC and NT8.1.4 on my laptop after migration?

2. I have developed most of my custom add-ons in the past 14 years and I do not have a 3rd Party vendor add-ons. Do you know of any known compatibility issues with regards to custom add-ons when updating from 8.0.27 to 8.1.4? Are any of such comatibility issues related to updating from Windows 10 to Windows 11?

Yes, they're two separate installs on two different devices - there are no issues with running them both.

I am not sure if there are issues between Windows 10 and Windows 11 but anecdotally we have seen users have issues when trying to migrate from 8.0 to 8.1 and keeping the same indicators working as expected.
You would know more about this subject than I would - if you need help with your indicators post migration you can reach us via email where our Scripting team can assist further.
