    Market Replay data

I recently reloaded NT8. I have a lot of Market Replay data on my computer. Since I updated NT8 I only have ES 06-13, NQ 09-23 and NQ 12-24 available. I have not been able to locate a file folder with only this data showing. I have One Drive and DropBox on my computer. What should I do to move the data and make it available to NT8?

    Hello Simon59,

    Thank you for the message.

If both One Drive and DropBox are backing up the files, there is unfortunately no guarantee as to where the files are officially located or if they have been duplicated to multiple places.

To begin, we would recommend to stop both One Drive and DropBox from backing up or affecting the Documents folder as that is what holds all of NinjaTrader's unique files and Market Replay data.

Here are the steps we have to stop DropBox:

    You will need to move this folder back to the default Documents directory on your PC, turn off the backup, and reinstall NinjaTrader. To do this;
    To turn off computer backup:
    1. Open your Dropbox desktop app preferences.
    2. Click the Backups tab.
    3. Click Manage backup.
    4. Uncheck the folders you’d like to stop backing up to Dropbox (in this case, the Documents folder) or uncheck My Mac/My PC to turn off backup for all folders at once.
    5. Click Save.
    6. Choose Keep content in folders on this PC/Mac
    7. Click Stop backup.
    8. Click Close.
Once you've confirmed that the files are no longer on the Dropbox location, move to the steps below to stop One Drive.

Here are the steps we have for One Drive:

Please use the steps below to stop One Drive from backing up the Documents Folder and instead move it to the local PC:
    • Completely close NinjaTrader
    • Hover your mouse over the OneDrive icon (the cloud) in the App Tray
    • Right click and select Settings
    • Locate the 'Backup' tab
    • Under the 'Documents' Folder, select 'Stop backup'
After stopping the backup, you will need to copy the NinjaTrader 8 folder from the original OneDrive Documents location onto the local PC.
    • Go to your Documents folder
    • Locate the 'Where are my files' icon
    • Right click and select 'Open in new window'
    • Locate the NinjaTrader 8 folder from within the OneDrive location
    • Copy and paste the entire NinjaTrader 8 folder into the documents folder on your local hard drive
It is easiest to have one window open with the OneDrive documents location and one window open with the local PC documents location to achieve this.

Once you have moved all of the NinjaTrader 8 files over, you will need to do a 'soft reinstall of NinjaTrader Desktop.
    • In the search field on your Windows taskbar, type Control Panel and select this app
    • Select Programs > Programs and Features
    • Locate NinjaTrader in the list, right click, and select uninstall
Once these steps are completed, download and install NinjaTrader Desktop by logging in to your user dashboard with the following link:
      • After you log in, please click the Download button in the bottom left corner and click the Download button on the Desktop Application Download page.

From here, you are ready to sign back in and check if you see the other Market Replay data.
    • If not, you will want to look through the PC of other NinjaTrader db > Replay folders and then copy and paste them into the same location under the Documents > NinjaTrader 8 location.
    • Finally, you can download new Market Replay data for the past 90 days from the current date:

        Hello DayTrader12,

        Thank you for the message.

Yes, it is safe to delete the Market Replay data. For example, if you have a lot of old data you don't need or care about anymore:
        • Close NinjaTrader
        • Go to the Documents Folder > NinjaTrader 8 > db > Replay
          • Either go into the folder and delete unwanted data specifically
          • Or, outright delete the "Replay" folder
            • (Make sure you do not delete any extra folders as once it is delete, it is gone as this might be so big it skips the Recycle Bin and is completely removed from the PC with no way to bring it back
Once you reopen NinjaTrader, it would automatically make a new Replay folder in there.

From here, you are ready to download some more/new Market Replay data and keep using the platform.

Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.
