    Datafeed disonnected issue and proposed solution advise

    Ninja support team,

    Engage only Tier 2 support team here. No rookie support needed. This question is critical.


    I am native Ninja trader User, means I have my regular future trading account with Ninja and I pay 4$/month for CME Future Data to get CGQ Datafeed at my Ninjatrader desktop.


    I run multiple strategies in control center for auto trading ES futures.


    problem: sometimes, i observe log error: datafeed= disconnected.

    I know possible reasons for that. Internet and DNS is not one of them. So do not waste time on that. focus on below question and guide.



    ONE POSSIBLE REASON CAN BE- SOMETIMES DATAFEED BY CQG gets frozen or price feed gets some errors, so we get message " datafeed=disconnected".


    During this time my automation is compromised.



    - PROPOSED SOLUTION:
    I AM THINKING OF BUYING REALTIME DATAFEED from either IQFEED or RITHMIC// or open rithmic broker account just to get live data feed.

    And then I am thinking to use MULTI PROVIDER MODE AND ALSO KEEP SIMULTANEOUS CONNECTION ACTIVE AND CONNECTED WITH SECONDARY DATAFEED/BROKER



    SO, BY DOING THIS- I WANT TO ACHIEVE THIS SCENARIO: WHENEVER SUDDENLY MY ONGOING NINJATRADER CQG DATAFEED=DISCONNECTED; THEN MY NINJATRADER AUTOMATICALLY SWITCH TO OTHER SIMULATEOUS CONNECTION'S DATAFEED TO KEEP MY TRADING AUTOMATION FLOWING NORMALLLY WITHOUT ANY COMPROMISE AND STRATEGY CALCULATIONS OCCUR WITH REALTIME DATA RECEIVED (EITHER FROM CQG NINJA NATIVE //OR // FROM IQFEED OR RITHMIC)



    SO, is this doable?

    if yes, then what cheap choice i have to get secondary back up live data feed? i want only and only CME TOP OF THE BOOK DATA FOR EMINI FUTURES.


    ALL IN ALL, WHAT I WANT TO ACHIEVE IS CONTINUOUS DATAFEED WITHOUT ANY DISRUPTION ON DATA SIDE

      Thank you for posting on the NinjaTrader forums.


      Having a supplementary data feed alongside your main data feed is a good idea to maintain an active stream of information. The logistics of it are not as you're describing them, however. NinjaTrader will not actively make a 'switch' to IQFeed or Rithmic. You'll likely see the connection drop for your main feed, but the charts will continue loading as expected - barring that the connection to your supplementary feed doesn't drop as well.


      This does shed some light on the main issue, which is your connection dropping. I assume that you've already explored the previous troubleshooting steps - we have seen some users see success after contacting their ISP.

        I have the data feed disconnect frequently on one computer. But I have another computer running TOS and it doesn't have similar issues. Both on same internet. Recently, it's been the historical data server that has disconnected. When it reconnects it causes my entire platform to freeze up and that has become bothersome.

        I bought Kinetick yesterday to see if that doesn't help. I've set it as my preferred datasource. We'll see if the issue doesn't resolve.

        **Update 10 minutes after initial posting: Just had my Live (NT data feed) lose connection again. My Kinetick data did not lose connection. This was the response: Live: Primary connection=Connection Lost, Price feed=Connected. In preferences, I had changed my preferred connection to be Kinetick.

        How I read this is that Live connection is now losing order connection but not price feed connection.

          DisneyMom- you are sweet fabulous. your update after 10 mins part was helpful. I want to ask two questions. How much it costed you to purchase Kinetick data? after purchasing you got some login and password too?

          i am using 3 seperate computers at the same time to run my algorithms strategies on ES futures. is it possible to use same Login ID and Password of Kinetick to get datafeed in all 3 computers? just curious.

          Also, if you okay, I can Direct message you and chat in more details.

          It seems like you also deep into trading algos, based on the way you understood problem and way you provided reply. I can sniff that. haha

          Afterall, you are DISNEY MOM. Loved the Nickname. I am fan of Disney-Florida (not californina -its small)

            Frequent disconnects will sometimes stem from an unstable connection to the NinjaTrader servers. If available, we can provide you with a CQG based username that you can connect with instead.

              NinjaTrader_LuisH- I am using ninjatrader for Algo trading. I am paying for CGQ data feed. so, are you saying that, I can get CGQ datafeed ID passwrod from ninja client service? How?

              Once I get CQG data feed ID Password for my account, how can I use that for connection in Ninjatrader desktop? what choice I should use? shall it be same as Kinetick datafeed or should I choose Ninjatrader continuum?

              Tell me

              Also what is advantage here, for using additional CGQ live data connection, isnt that same provided by Ninjatrader directly?

              explain me technicality behind this.
