    Indicators recalculating

    Hi

Is there any way to make an alteration to a single indicator without all the other indicators on the chart having to recalculate once that alteration has been made?

    Regards
    Mike

    Hello MikM45 ,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Unfortunately altering an indicator requires recalculating other indicators on the chart, as the platform processes the chart as a whole, rather than recalculating individual components. This recalculation occurs to maintain synchronization across the chart’s various components, including multiple indicators that rely on the same data.

Unfortunately, there is no built-in feature to avoid the recalculation of all indicators when altering just one. However, you can try a few strategies to reduce the impact of recalculation:
    1. Separate Chart for Individual Indicator Changes: You can create a separate chart or a separate panel within the same chart and add the indicator you want to alter. This would reduce the number of indicators that are recalculated on the main chart.
    2. Reduce Days to Load or Data Loaded: Reducing the amount of data on your chart (through the 'Days to Load' setting) or switching from tick-based charts to minute-based charts might decrease the processing time required for recalculation.
    3. Check for Resource-Intensive Indicators: Use the NinjaScript Utilization Monitor (Control Center > New > NinjaScript Output > Right-click > NinjaScript Utilization Monitor) to check if any specific indicators are consuming a large amount of resources. Removing or optimizing these indicators could reduce overall recalculation time.
    4. Optimize Performance Settings: Consider optimizing your performance settings by following these steps:
      • Control Center > Tools > Options > Market Data > Reduce ‘Maximum Number of Bars Look Back’ setting if applicable.
      • Control Center > Tools > Options > General > Ensure that ‘Multi-threaded’ is enabled for performance.

If you are encountering significant delays due to complex scripts, the issue may stem from chart rendering delays.

Let us know if you have any other questions.
