Difference data base between NT8 and NT7

    Hello,
I am in the process of transcribing my strategies from NT7 to NT8, and when I run backtests on certain markets, I don't get the same results.

After reviewing the trades, I noticed there are price differences between NT7 and NT8 in certain markets.

For example, on the 6A future, you can see (attached picture) on the 15-minute chart from September 2, 2024, a difference within the blue rectangle.

On NT8, the prices make new highs and exceed the R3 level of the Camarilla indicator, whereas on NT7, there is no new high and no break of the R3 level of the Camarilla indicator.

For your information, I am connected to CQG on both NT7 and NT8. I have deleted the database folders several times in C:\Documents\NinjaTrader 8\db\minute (same for NT7) and redownloaded the data.

Can you help me with this price difference? Because the backtests do not give the same results .

    Hello Thomas79,

    Thank you for using NinjaTrader.

The behavior you're describing can arise from several key differences between the two platforms such as:
    1. Platform Differences in Chart Rendering and Performance:
      • NinjaTrader 8 introduces multi-threading and improved performance architecture compared to NinjaTrader 7, which uses single-threading. NT8 allows for more efficient data handling, especially during volatile market conditions. This means that NinjaTrader 8 may process and render incoming data more quickly and with more detail, especially if there is a high tick rate (as found during fast-moving markets or increased volatility). This might explain why you're seeing the R3 level being exceeded on NT8 and not on NT7.
    2. Differences in Historical Data Management:
      • NinjaTrader 8 and NinjaTrader 7 handle historical data differently, which can result in variations in plotted data. NinjaTrader 8 has a more robust historical data system, including support for tick-based replay and high-resolution fill processing, which can lead to more accurate bar formations and indicator calculations. If NT7 is using less accurate or compressed data, it could miss certain highs that NT8 captures.

Please let us know if there's anything else we can further assist with!

ok so if I understand correctly, it is better to trust NT8 rather than NT7
