I am a non-professional trader interested in continuing to practice with NinjaTrader 8 using the Sim101 simulation account and the Strategy Analyzer. I currently have no plans to open a real brokerage account, but I would like to subscribe to a data feed with a delay (I believe the delay is 10 minutes). I have no issue with this delay and would like to access historical data and perform analysis with the Strategy Analyzer, as well as use live delayed data to simulate real-time trades. I am particularly interested in CME market data, as I focus on mini futures for indices such as NQ, ES, RTY, YM, and ZB.
Some people have suggested that I use other platforms like TradingView, but I feel much more comfortable using NinjaTrader 8. I find its robustness and available tools, especially for analysis and simulation, better suited to my learning needs.
I understand that NinjaTrader Continuum is a CQG data feed (though I may be mistaken), so I have a few questions on how to proceed:
Is it possible to subscribe only to the data feed without having an active brokerage account? (I am using the free version of NinjaTrader 8.)
-What steps should I follow to subscribe and configure this delayed data feed on my NinjaTrader 8 platform?
-Can I access historical data and perform backtesting with this setup?
-Will the Sim101 account work properly for simulating trades with the delayed data?
I would like to continue learning and improving my skills with NinjaTrader 8, so I would appreciate any guidance or detailed steps to complete this process correctly.
Thank you for your help.
