Cost for trading ES

Simple question. Can someone give me a ballpark figure for how much it costs, on average, to open and close a single contract on ES after all the costs of trading have been factored in?

For example, say you opened and closed 50 ES trades in a month. What would be the average, real-world cost per trade including commissions, exchange fees, and anything else.

Thank you for the message.

The cost to trade is going to vary by each broker and instrument along with their Commissions and Fees that get charged.

You would find the Cost Per side from your broker and then multiply it by the number of contracts.


For example, if you were a NinjaTrader Brokerage User, you could refer to the link below:

So for example using the Lifetime Account Plan rate from the link above, we can see the cost per side of the ES is $2.14

• So if by 50 trades you mean round trip, in and out then we double the value above to $4.28 per round trip "Trade"
• So 50 round-trip trades x $4.28 = $214.00 in Commissions and fees

If you have a different broker or different account plan, you would want to find out those rates and then calculate that from there.
