Data lag in high volume market - how to mitigate

Hi - I've recently started using tick charts for some patterns. I noticed that my data lag seems higher with tick charts, is that a known issue?

Also - is the performance for one chart window with three tabs better/same/worse vs three separate chart windows with no tabs?

Last - If I have a workspace (Workspace1) open, but am using a separate workspace (workspace2), what is the performance impact of Workspace1 while Workspace2 is the focus?

    Thanks!

    Hello john_44573,

    Thank you for the question.

    1. Yes, it is known that Tick-based charts are normally more calculation intensive than higher intervals like Minute or Day as it is a value that normally has to update much faster.

    2. If the charts were set up the exact same way as the tabs, they would theoretically take about the same to process.
    • The question is, are all Tabs/Charts set to the same instrument or different instruments?
      • While not exactly, but generally speaking, each instrument will be assigned to a core of your CPU.
      • So if you had 100 windows all on the same instrument vs 100 windows with all different instruments, this would utilize the CPU differently.
    3. The open, but not visible workspace is still utilizing PC resources to run the calculations in the background.
    • You could moving the important windows from the 2nd workspace into the 1st one. Then close the 2nd and only use the 1st one moving forward.
    • Or, switch between the two if you like.

        !
        Hi John,
        2) 3 tabs in one window puts much less load on the CPU
mainly because many indicators have the so-called suspended mode enabled and this means that they are not updated unless they are in the foreground window..

Thanks - that's very helpful (and I learned what that parameter does in script). I appreciate the reply!
