    Clean install of NT8

    Hi All,

    I am thinking about doing and uninstall and re-install of NT-8. It has been a little choppy lately and I am thinking a fresh start and reloading of my strategies and add-ons will help.

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Hello johnjax.

    Thank you for the message.

    If you would like to do a completely fresh installation of the NinjaTrader Platform to verify how the base platform without anything runs and then bring your 3rd party add-ons back in, you are more than welcome to do so.

    You may follow the steps listed below to completely uninstall and reinstall NinjaTrader. This will remove all of your prior Files, Workspaces, Templates, Add-ons, and settings.
    • Close all running applications.
    • Navigate to your Documents folder > Right-click on the 'NinjaTrader 8' folder > Rename > rename the folder to 'NinjaTrader 8 OLD'. DO NOT delete this folder.
    • Uninstall NinjaTrader within Windows Control Panel.
    • Navigate to C:\ > Program File (x86) > Delete the 'NinjaTrader 8' folder if it exists
    • Reboot your PC.
    • Once these steps are completed, please log in to your dashboard and download and install NT8:

    From here, you will want to sign back in, re-enable Multi-provider Mode, and then re-configure your Connection and test if NinjaTrader is opening and working as expected.Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.

      A reinstall may be great. Clayton explains the best way to go about doing so.

      I would suggest also rebuilding your workspaces, one by one. You may have an issue here.

      You can do this by creating brand new charts and adding your indicators/strategies back in.

        I'm trying to download some strategies and indicators but I'm getting either the "Import Failed - Duplicate Method" error or if I put the .cs file in the folder I'm getting compiling errors. Either way, I was told I may need to do a fresh install of NT8.

        The issue is I have a lot of 3rd party indicators I don't want to lose. If I add OLD at the end of the folder and move it to my desktop and do the fresh install will I be able to bring the OLD folder back in if I need to without losing my 3rd part indicators (having to contact 3rd Party and re-submit Machine ID) if that doesn't fix the issue? Thanks!

          Do you happen to have a copy of the original 3rd party indicator installation files the vendor(s) provided? If so we usually recommend installing the add-ons using the files provided by the vendor directly to ensure all files are installed in the appropriate directories.

            Yes, just change the name again of both folders:
            NinjaTrader 8 OLD ---> NinjaTrader 8
            NinjaTrader 8 ---> NinjaTrader did not work (or whatever you want to name it, or delete it)

              Yes, I have copies of all indicators. Thank you both, I will try to do this over the weekend and get back with you.
