    Access Denied Error During Custom Indicator Import in NT8

    I am encountering an issue while attempting to import a custom indicator in NinjaTrader 8. When I start the import process, I receive the following error message:

    "Unhandled exception: Access to the path 'C:\Users\Trader\Documents\NinjaTrader 8\tmp\Import\Backup\bin\Custom\AddOns' is denied."

    After this, the platform closes automatically. I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps, but the issue still persists:

    1. Ran NinjaTrader as Administrator: Ensured the program has elevated permissions.
    2. Verified Folder Permissions: Confirmed that the folder in question has the necessary read/write permissions.
    3. Temporarily Disabled Antivirus/Firewall: To rule out interference from security software.
    4. Cleared the Import Folder: Ensured no conflicting files were present in the `Custom\AddOns` directory.
    5. Reinstalled NinjaTrader 8: Performed a fresh install of the platform.

    Despite following these steps, I continue to receive the same error. Could you please advise on any additional actions I can take to resolve this issue? I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide.

        Try to go to that path in file explorer, are you able to get to it?

          I went to that path, and the folder is empty. I resolved the "unhandled exception" error with tech support's help. Now, I'm receiving a new error that states "The NinjaScript Archive File may contain duplicate method names that already exist on your PC."

            Hi statsalgo and NinjaTrader_ChristopherJ, I have been experiencing the exact same sequence of errors. First there is the access to the ...tmp\backup folder, and then the duplicate method name. How did you resolve this issue? I have just submitted a ticket as well. Thanks.​​

              Same issue here, except I have not gotten past the initial access denied error. This is extremely frustrating, hours have been killed on this issue. If someone knows the solution, would you please share? Thanks!

                  Facing the exact same issue, while importing an indicator on a new Ninja Trader 8installation. This is what I see in the log, please help if anyone has resolved this problem.

                        This may be due to OneDrive blocking access to the required folders.

                        Please close NinjaTrader then go to the Windows tray in the lower right corner->Right click on the OneDrive icon->Under Pause Synching select "Quit OneDrive".

                        Next with NinjaTrader still closed go to Documents->NinjaTrader 8->Rename the current tmp folder to tmpOld.

                        Next create a new folder giving the folder the same name tmp then once created open NinjaTrader and let me know if you can then import your add-on successfully.

                            Hi, I have followed this and still have the same issue - same path on my OneDrive.

                            Is there no way to change this default location in NinjaTrader so that it does not try to use OneDrive?

                              Currently there is not an option to change the default location and the NinjaTrader 8 folder must reside in Documents to operate. After stopping your Documents from backing up to OneDrive did you also reinstall NinjaTrader and create a new tmp folder?
