OneDrive Issues
Hi, Need some help please. I turned on OneDrive to see if I could run a back up of all my data for a new laptop that I am about to purchase and use NT8 on and when I did that all it did was revert my current NT8 on my old laptop to a previous version. It is a workstation that I was using weeks ago. I can't even see some of the things that I had put into my workstation. Do you know of a way to revert back to the previous work station? Also I keep getting these error messages. Any idea how to fix this as well do I do not get these errors?

It appears that if one drive is running when NT8 is being installed the first time, The NT8 Registry entries are built using one drive paths. Now it does not matter how many times you uninstall and reinstall NT8. The NT8 registry does not change. It keeps looking for One Drive even if one drive gets uninstalled. Open Ninjatrader editor. Right click and select references. Scroll down. If you try to remove references with one drive in the path and save, Ninjatrader puts the one drive paths back into the reference list. They cannot be removed. Well, I have not figured out how to do it. Maybe someone else can share a solution.Originally posted by paulmuldoon View PostHi, Need some help please. Hello paulmuldoon ,
Thank you for your post.
The first error message is because OneDrive has a "stuck" process relating to your NT8 files, and the other message means OneDrive has made duplicate files within your NinjaTrader 8 -> Documents -> Templates -> Trading Hours folder.
To resolve these issues, you would want to move your Documents folder to your local hard drive on your PC using the following instructions:- Completely close NinjaTrader
- Hover your mouse over the OneDrive icon (the cloud) in the App Tray
- Right click and select Settings
- Locate the 'Backup' tab
- Under the 'Documents' Folder, select 'Stop backup'
- Go to your Documents folder
- Locate the 'Where are my files' icon
- Right click and select 'Open in new window'
- Locate the NinjaTrader 8 folder from within the OneDrive location
- Copy and paste the entire NinjaTrader 8 folder into the documents folder on your local hard drive
Once you have moved all of the NinjaTrader 8 files over, you will need to do a 'soft reinstall of NinjaTrader Desktop.- In the search field on your Windows taskbar, type Control Panel and select this app
- Select Programs > Programs and Features
- Locate NinjaTrader in the list, right click, and select uninstall
Once these steps are completed, download and install NinjaTrader Desktop by logging in to your user dashboard with the following link:
After you log in, please click the Download button in the bottom left corner and click the Download button on the Desktop Application Download page.
Additionally, you may want to check your folder for any duplicate/copies of files.
In this specific case, you will need to open your PC Documents -> NinjaTrader 8 folder -> Templates folder -> and highlight and delete the "Trading Hours" subfolder.
There are too many copies to go through each inside the Trading Hours folder, so I would recommend deleting it all together.
Here is a video on how to get to the "Templates" folder.
World's leading screen capture + recorder from Snagit + Screencast by Techsmith. Capture, edit and share professional-quality content seamlessly.
In your folders, the files at the end would have the same filename as indicated in the core error message (most likely ending in " - copy").
I advise you to first close NinjaTrader, then check your documents to see if you find the duplicate files and delete them.
If you get the same error for other Templates subfolders, such as "Commissions" or "Risk", you will need to do the same for those documents as well.
Then restart Ninjatrader and check if the same error messages appear.
Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.
