    Problems importing data

I'm having problems importing Backtest / Optimization data

As you can see from the screen shot, upon attempting to import data, I get 0 records imported with error message, "Instrument is not supported by Repository". Yet, you can see in my Historical Data, I do have previous quarters of the data, therefore, the Instrument does exist. In this case, I have NQ form 03-20 to 12-23, and am trying to import the NQ 06-24 quarter.

I'm aware that I can download the data as well; however, I need to get the import mechanism working. When I download, I can only get 12 months back. I have data going 2-3 years back, so I need some other mechanism to move this 2-3 year old historical data from one machine to another.

Also, I've discovered that merely coping the /db/tick data from one machine onto another doesn't work either. Even when I restart or re-install NT, it doesn't recognize the /tick data that was simply copied over.

    Thanks.

I'll add a bit more flavor to this issue. From the first screen shot, you can see that I can download RTY 06-23 successfully. From the second screen shot, when I attempt to download RTY 09-23, I get "Invalid Instrument error"

I've tried about 20 ways to get around this: reinstall NT, reinstall the data, import the data, and so on. I even build a machine from scratch with a new install of W10, then install NT. I've found no way around this.

Support, if you're still with me, one more item - you'll notice my Instrument list is empty, which I'm sure is contributing to this problem. Now, the rest of the story. There's three points about my configuration may be unique.

First, I'm running this on a group of machines not connected to any network. On these machines, I'm doing Optimizations only, so I keep them off the internet.

Second, I'm running an older 8.X version. The newer versions require authentication to log in, which then requires a network connection that I don't have.

Third, my /db/tick directory, for each machine, is a linked directory pointing to a central repository. I don't want to maintain six different /db/tick data sets on six different machines. Instead, it's cleaner to have one data source, and then link the /db/tick directory with the NT installation to the central data source.

Given all of this, your thoughts? Thanks,

        Hello timmbbo,

        Thank you for posting.

Please reset your instruments and Instrument lists with the steps below.
        • First, disconnect from any data providers by navigating to the Control Center > Connections menu, and left-click on "disconnect" that appears to the right when hovering your mouse over any active connection
        • Next, reset your instruments by navigating to the Control Center > Tools > Database Management
        • In the Database Management window, under the "Update instruments" section, ensure that "General properties", "Futures expiries" and "Symbol mappings" options are checked and then click Update
        • In the Database Management window, under the "Update instrument lists" section, ensure that "Predefined instruments lists" is checked and then click Update
        • Lastly, restart NinjaTrader for the changes to occur
Please let me know if the issue persists after this procedure.

Christopher, thanks. I've completed the procedure. Now, when I go Tools -> Historical Data, I get this error: "Unhandled Exception" Next steps?
