Ninjatrader keeps freezing by Strategy analyzer test

When I make a strategy Analyzing test, it will freeze, I can not use it at all and need to restart.

It happes all the time.

I got a I5 3.2 GHz Windows Dell computer, with 12 rams. VERY few programs on that computer, runs really good, just not ninjatrader, it reminds me of old heavy programs.

Is there anything I can do or is it just a heavy program. I know more who have the same problems with larger computers.

Is the freezing occuring only when using the Strategy Analyzer?

There are a few factors that can cause an optimization to either slow or just stop. The first one would be the amount of data you are backtesting. Another cause would be if the strategy runs on price change or on each tick with tick replay on, this can exponentially hurt performance. The third cause would be the code itself, something that would need to be optimized by the coder. Another cause would be the type of optimization you are running, performance is negatively correlated with the number of iterations/number of generations you are requesting.

You should use Print statements to print out data from the strategy, this might uncover what is slowing down the system.

If you backtest a small amount of data, does the same thing happen?

Sometimes it can happen with cahrts on. Not a problem.

Im backtesing from 3.6-3.8, maybe 6 startegy parameters

Another cause would be if the strategy runs on price change or on each tick with tick replay on,

If you backtest a small amount of data, does the same thing happen?

On my personal computer it always freezes too, so I switched to only running strategy analyzer & optimizations on the Pro 32gb RAM dedicated server from ninjamobiletrader vps because it's super fast with even the largest optimizations and most importantly no freezing.

I also got a error message today, where I tried again. ninjatrader.exe sytemerror - It came around a hour in the testing fase.

I know this is an old thread but I also have the freezing issue sometimes...
I hit the RUN and it just sits there for a while and then spits out the results, without updating the counter... and it seems to take longer when this happens.
Now for a weird fix (sort of):
Before hitting the RUN, start the windows "Task Manager" THEN hit the run.... Believe or not, it seems to complete faster and usually shows the working counters...
