    ATM Strategy Entry Displacement

    Hello,

Looking to enter plus or minus a set number of ticks from the current market price. In a fast market the DOM moves wildly and hard to trigger a specific price.

    regards,
    Chris

    Hello Kubera2024,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Have you tried using Limit orders instead of market orders?

Limit orders let you pick the price you want your entry to be filled at. Once filled, your ATM will execute with it (if selected when the limit order was places)

Please see this link for more explanations on order types:

    https://ninjatrader.com/futures/blog...rmined%20level.

There are 2 Types of orders: Market Orders and Limit Orders. From there, Stop Market and Stop Limit orders are used mainly to control how you want to get out of a trade in the event the market goes against you (Stop Loss).

    Limit
    • Will only fill at your chosen Limit price or better, and does not guarantee a fill
    • Default order type used for Profit Target orders to ensure you get your desired profit or better

    Market
    • Immediately fills at the next available price as soon as it is submitted from the platform, and guarantees a fill

    Stop-Market
    • Will fill at the next available price as soon as the Stop Price is hit by the market
    • Guarantees a fill, may fill at a worse price than you are expecting (slippage)
    • Used as the default for Stop Loss orders in ATM Strategies

    Stop-Limit
    • Attempts to fill once the Stop Price is hit, but will not fill if the price moves past the Stop-Limit offset
    • Does not guarantee a fill. You can use the Stop-Limit offset to give it more breathing room and allow the market to move a bit away from your Stop Price and still Fill.

    MIT (Market-if-touched)
    • Sits on the platform until it is hit by the market price, and then a Market order is submitted
    • Is not visible to the market while it waits on your platform

thank you, I don't think limit orders would work in this situation. The price floats too fast, and just looking to enter with a click plus or minus a certain number of ticks.

Trading using the DOM, the market price changes too fast at times. And I would just like to hit the market price but displaced a certain number of ticks. So the 'market price' is a floating value and can't be precisely defined in a fast market.
