Charts missing candlesticks or shows incorrect candlesticks

When I open Ninjatrader over the last week or so, my charts (for ES and MES contracts) are routinely missing candlestick bars and/or showing incorrect candlesticks that are not possible. I'll attach an example of the latter, where you can see the 17th 5-minute candlestick bar of the day could not open at that price, if the prior bar were correct.

I have tried 3 remedies that will yield an updated and different arrangement of candlesticks on the chart, but the majority of the time the charts will still load incorrectly. There are times when the charts do load correctly but I don't know why that happens--it might be that it loads correctly more frequently if I close the program for a longer period of time, like an hour or so, but I'm not sure about that and that is not a preferable or workable solution.

    Here's what I've tried:

    1) I have tried disconnecting and restarting Ninjatrader. I frequently have to do this anyway due to an unresolved order problem (when an OCO order is closed, a new order immediately is triggered and I can only remove the new order by disconnecting and closing down Ninjatrader) that was never resolved, though the NT team did try to help and extensively looked into connection issues on my end and so forth. I have wondered if frequently disconnecting and closing the program isn't causing issues but the issue of candlesticks not loading correctly does also happen when starting the week after a period of being disconnected--for example, when I opened up Ninjatrader for the first time on Monday morning, the chart was both missing candlesticks and showing incorrect candlesticks.

    2) I have tried reloading historical data on the charts.

    3) I have tried disconnecting and closing Ninjatrader and then deleting the cache folder in the db folder before restarting again.

Do you have any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

    Hello pgarc1 ,

    Thank you for reaching out.

We received new eports today that some of our historical data servers are missing data from most CME instruments.

Our technology team is working to resolve this problem.

Unfortunately, this means you will either have to wait until it completes, or keep trying to reboot until you are connected to a different historical data server (HDS). Unfortunately there is no way to manually choose your server.

Until we have been able to complete the process, please try clearing your old historical data.

You can clear old historical and cache data by doing the following:

    - Shut down NinjaTrader 8

    - Go to your computer's 'Documents/NinjaTrader 8/db' folder

    - Delete the files inside the 'cache', 'day', 'minute', and 'tick' folders.

    - Important: Do not remove any other files inside the NinjaTrader 8 Documents folder.

    -Restart your PC

Then restart your NinjaTrader platform and try to connect to the market data again.

    - Once connected, right-click on the chart and select "Reload all historical data".

    - If the data still does not load, repeat the above process until you connect to a different historical data server and the chart populates.

Unfortunately, there is no way to specify the Historical Data Server, so you will have to repeat the above process until you connect to a different server.

Once we have been able correct the servers and populate the information, the data gaps will no longer be a problem.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I just wanted to say that I have been having the same issue. Following the instructions as given above did not resolve the issue.
I have just uninstalled Ninjatrader. Should I even bother to reinstall it? Because as it is, the program is completely untradeable.

Who has time to sit around rebooting this program and hoping it can find it's data source? Aside from the charts not loading and/or not syncing with the actual prices, no chart trading is possible, phantom orders are apparently created, and trades not registering in the P&L -- The only way it can even shut down is to end task because the main screen freezes. It asks if you want to save the workspaces and doesn't close. Is Ninjatrader thinking about resolving this issue any time soon? Because I uninstalled it when none of the instructions worked, other than the instruction to keep wasting my time, which I am not just about to do. I don't even want to reinstall it if that is all it is now, is a big waste of time.

Ninjatrader apparently does not take traders seriously enough for traders to take Ninjatrader seriously.

Has this issue been fixed as of 8/19/24? I've observed missing bars for at least a couple of weeks. I cleared all the locally cached data today by deleting 4 folders in the db folder. After that it finally appeared to plot the data correctly.

Is this because I got lucky and hit the right data server? Or because the issue is resolved and I managed to finally get rid of the corrupted local data that was continuing to show the problem on charts even after the issue has been fixed?
