    Chart not updating

    MNQ is not updating prices. I have tried the methods in the forums for fixing this, some of which don't apply to NT 8.1+, so couldn't be done. Changing the chart to NQ appears to show prices updating. Changing it back to MNQ shows it frozen on whatever last price loaded when the chart loaded, then no further price updates.

    I am on the latest version of NT. Below is a shot of the chart running in Tradestation on the left (every tick updating) and the NT chart on the right.

    Additionally, the DOM does not show prices loading for MNQ, but does show for, say, ES or NQ.

    I am using Rithmic. A test live trade done placed manually in Rithmic to Ninjatrader shows the contract being bought, the position value being updated in Rithmic and in NT Control Center -- all despite the MNQ chart itself being frozen.

    I need the chart to be working because ultimately I am trying to send strategy signals from Tradestation to NT for use in a Topstep combine.

    Thank you for reaching out.

    Please first try testing your platform in Safe Mode to verify if this behavior is caused by a 3rd-party add-on or is isolated to your Workspace using the steps below. Safe Mode will prevent NinjaTrader from:
    • Loading workspaces and connecting on start-up.
    • Loading custom assemblies (3rd-party add-ons and NinjaScripts)
    • Getting instrument updates from the server
    To open the platform in Safe Mode:
    • Go to the Windows Start Menu
    • Search for NinjaTrader > select 'NinjaTrader (Safe Mode)'
    • Once you have opened the platform in Safe Mode, you may manually connect to your Data Provider from the Connections dropdown

    Once you are connected, open a new chart with no custom bar types, indicators, or templates and test for issues. Does the behavior persist on this blank Workspace in Safe Mode?

    If not, please try opening your previous workspace from the Control Center > Workspaces dropdown. It may already appear as open. Hit 'close' and do not save, then re-open it again for your windows to appear. You will notice that no 3rd-party add-ons are available in Safe Mode. Does the behavior return to your regular Workspace in Safe Mode?

    If not, restart NinjaTrader normally, and test for the behavior on your Workspace normally once more with your 3rd-party add-ons available. If the issue returns, we suggest rebuilding your workspace. Keep track of each add-on you implement to identify the cause of the behavior should it return. If the issue does not resurface, it confirms the error was isolated only to your other Workspace.

    We also suggest backing up your workspace (Tools > Export > Backup) so you may restore a working version if the issue returns. Additional information about backups may be read here in our Help Center.

    Please let us know the results of this test. We look forward to your response.



    If the same MNQ freezing is happening in Safe Mode:

    Please send in your log and trace files so that we may look more into what may be occurring.

    You can do this by going to the Control Center-> Help-> Email Support

    Make sure to categorize your request at the top.

    Ensure 'Log and Trace Files' is checked will include these files. This is checked by default.

      Thanks, Erick. I have tested your suggestions. MNQ does freeze in Safe Mode, even with rebuilt and/or new workspaces.

      Importantly, I have just discovered that other symbols appear to be freezing too, whereas earlier changing the symbol seemed to start the realtime updates. Now it does not.

      I have therefore emailed support from within the application and included the required log file.
