How to make Kinetick my primary data feed over Continuum?

Hi, I just signed up to Kinetick and I've done the connection process. I also have NinjaTrader Continuum which I was using for my brokerage account. I am confused because if I only choose Kinetick as my connection then my trading account does not appear. When I add Ninjatrader Continuum then under the Accounts -> Connection it shows NinjaTrader Continuum alongside my trading account, but Kinetick for all the Sim accounts.

How do I make sure / know that the primary data feed I am trading off is from Kinetick? Thanks

NinjaTrader has you covered.

What you want is 'preferred connection', that's the
name of the feature.

Try this,
(Start with Control Center)
CC -> Tools -> Options -> Market data

After clicking on 'Market data', look inside
'General' for the preferred connections,
use the dropdown to select Kinetick.

Hi, I just looked at those settings and they were all set to none. Selecting Kinetick though has made no difference. Under connection, I still have to select Continuum to get my Live account to show, and all the sim accounts show Kinetick as the main connection.

Of course! How else do you expect to see it?

Kinetick is a data feed only, their data service does not
provide access to any accounts of any kind, it is simply
a data feed.

Your Continuum connection is both a data feed and an order
feed, it provides services to create, change, and cancel orders
in the account(s) you've opened/funded with them.

Normally your Continuum based account with use the data
feed provided by the Continuum connection.

However,
You can force your Continuum based account to use the real
time data feed from your subscription-based Kinetick connection
using the 'preferred connections' feature.

In the past, it was big deal the order sequence you connected
to your multiple connections, since the first connection made
that provided the type of data needed by the chart became
the primary connection for that data. [Notice I said that in a
very generic way to account for stock data vs futures data,
which usually come from different feeds.]

NT8 added the 'preferred connections' feature to eliminate
the guess work of the 'which connection to connect to first'
dilemma.

My point is, you will never see your live account with your
Continuum based broker until you connect to it. Full stop.
End of story.

Connecting to Kinetick first or last has absolutely nothing
to do with 'seeing' your live account w/Continuum, neither
do the preferred connections -- these options are strictly
used for the 'which data feed to use' decision -- they have
zero to do with the account (if any) associated with that
data feed.

If you want to see your Continuum-based account, you will
have to connect to the Continuum connection, it's that simple.

Preferred data feeds are a different thing, and have zero to
do with your account and the orders sent to your broker.

Preferred connections are only for data.

Thankyou for providing this detailed response. I just wanted to understand the process, and pardon me if I've got this wrong, but to try and ensure as you said to get my Continuum based account to use the Kinetick real time data for me to trade off. Having changed the preferred connection as directed under Market Data, Futures, then I believe that has been achieved. Thank you.
