NT8.0 Nija Editor not opening and crashes the application

    Hello,

When i try to open Ninja Editor - I get an error and NT8 crashes. I think error is coming from an custom indicator. It says (attached) "Unhandled exception: Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

While looking through the log, i found the indicator name and then removed the related .cs file from the bin/custom/indicator.

I have made sure i removed right file from the custom/indicator as i know indicator name on chart could be different from file name itself.

However, the indicator is still showing up the list on chart and I am still not able to open the editor.

Also, to clarify, when i open the application itself - it is fine. I have closed all the workspaces to make sure there is no chart loaded with any of the indicators. However, it is still not allowing me to access the Editor. When i open NT in safe mode and look at the indicators, i dont see the custom indicator but there is no way to compile from safe mode.

How do i get around this? Is there a way to force recompile without opening the editor? any other place i need to delete the file/reference?

Trying to avoid re-install as it might change the MachineID (?) and i have to contact vendors for update and will have couple of days of down day

    Version: 8.0.28.0 64-bit

    Hello AuctionNTForum,

In the background of the image that you provided those errors are known issues with older versions of NinjaTrader, the solution on those errors is to update to the current release.

In regard to the crashing, there is not a way to force a compile, you can try to remove the custom assembly but that may cause further issues if the platform is unable to compile, that could prevent it from being opened so I would not suggest doing that. The best way forward if you want to keep that version would be to do a clean install and re import your items as it is unknown from the error what the problem may be. That is a general C# error that just means something was null and was used.

I have included the steps below to do a clean install.

    1. Exit NinjaTrader
    2. Open the Documents folder
    3. Rename the NinjaTrader 8 folder to NinjaTrader 8 Old
    4. Download the installer from https://account.ninjatrader.com/download
    5. Install the platform, this will create a new user folder.
    6. Open the platform and import any of the items that you need

      Hello,
I probably have the same problem with version 8.0.27.1 64-bit at the moment.
When I try to reinstall the program, I get the message that there is a problem with the Windows Installer Package (Webview2 Runtime).
However, Ninjatrader can be started during the installation.

        Hello user10,

For that error you will need to uninstall NinjaTrader first and then run the installer to install the web runtime. Because 8.0.27 is no longer downloadable/supported you would need to update. I would not suggest updating to the older release 8.0.28 as numerous items have been changed and added in the most recent release 8.1.3.1. Updating does require that you use the new account website so you would need to make sure you can log into https://account.ninjatrader.com/ to access the download links. If you need help with your account or login please email [email protected] for further assistance.
