Keeping a strategy running for longer than one week?
I've been automated trading for years and its seems like every friday night i have a disconnection from my broker because of server maintenence and it cancels out my stop loss and profit target on the trading system that i have enabled. When i log in on sunday my stop loss and profit target are gone leaving me with a naked order and my system dis-abled. I've posted about this before thinking there might be a solution using the "server side ATM" but im still not convinced thats the answer im looking for?

Hello andrewtrades,
What you are seeing is normal, most brokers have some form of a server maintenance window. Whenever a broker has maintenance that is a hard disconnect which means the platform will physically disconnect and stop strategies. If a broker has a specific maintenance time then all we can suggest is to make sure you have closed out any trades or orders before that point so when the strategy disables it does not leave unprotected positions on the account. You can use server side ATM's if an ATM satisfies your needs, if it does not then the only solution would be to program the strategy to account for that time window so it stops trading and closes positions.
