Server Side Orders?
Is there anybody that can show me a use case for the "server side orders" feature inside NT? Im just not undestanding why its there? When i open a position with a stop loss and proft target and close my ninjatrader and disconnect and re-open my ninjatrader they are still there? What am i missing on this subject? Whats the point of this feature? Ive read the documentation and still dont see how its applied?Tags: None

Not sure why nobody has replied to you - but I got you're back
Server side orders are when entry, stops etc are kept on your broker. So they will execute even if you shutdown your PC. Client side orders will be held by NinjaTrader and not via your broker. So your computer would always have to be running.
So server side orders are nice for people who don't want to live their computer running all the time or might have stability issues or want to prevent that - but not all brokers are supported so check with NT docs to find out if yours is or isn't...
Client side orders let you use brokers that might not support them which is reason number one. A second reason, some traders are paranoid that their orders are being hunted so they want to keep them "hidden" from their broker. Certainly something I don't believe.. but its a reason why some keep them client side.

Hello andrewtrades ,
Thank you for reaching out.
xabcdtrading is correct.
Server-side Automated Trade Management (ATM) allows the orders and functionality associated with your ATM strategies to reside on NinjaTrader’s servers rather than on your local PC.
This means the One-Cancels-Other (OCO) functionality, order activation, and one-step trailing stop orders will all continue to function as expected even if your platform is disconnected. Differences Between Server-Side and Client-Side ATM
Server-side Automated Trade Management is different from NinjaTrader's previous functionality, in which the NinjaTrader platform had to be operating and connected in order for strategies to be running.
Please note that when switching between client-side ATM and server-side ATMs changes on templates are NOT synced.
Differences in Functionality with Server-Side ATM
A common difference in functionality you may experience with the new server-side strategies is the inability to scale into an active ATM strategy. With server-side ATM enabled, each order submitted will submit a stop and target according to your ATM’s parameters rather than adding to the existing stop and target orders associated with your initial entry. Each additional entry order will apply the ATM strategy based of its own entry price.
A complete overview of how this setting works and its differences may be read here - Server Side vs Local ATMs and Server Side Stop Strategies

Thanks for the repsonse guys. When i disable my "multi provider" mode my connections list goes empty and wont let me even configure a new connection. Is there something i have to do to so i can connect to my broker?
Also can these "server side" orders be used in a ninjascript? I made another post about this wondering how i can keep a strategy running for longer than one week because every friday night my brokers server goes down for maintenence.Last edited by andrewtrades; 08-01-2024, 11:14 AM.
