ninja trader open positions after it's closed apex copier

I'm using Apex Copier v10.3 and Ninja Trader version 8.0.28. The Apex copier open and close the trades correctly on Rithmic but Ninja Trader always leaves one trade with one contract opened on NinjaTrader. If I close that trade on NT, the "extra" trade is executed on Rithmic as if it was a new trade, so I need to close it again to get rid of it on both NT and Rithmic. How can I solve this problem? This problem started a few weeks back.

This sounds like the Replikanto "ghost order" issue many of us are having (Apex Trade Copier is a rebranded version of Replikanto). They sent this email a few weeks ago.

We are writing to inform you about a recently identified issue affecting some of our users. The issue involves the updating of positions after closing a trade, which may result in outdated information indicating an incorrectly open position in the NinjaTrader and Replikanto window which uses information from the platform. Attempting to close this position in NinjaTrader or Replikanto might cause a reverse order, inadvertently opening a new position due to the status of the most current position not being updated.

To mitigate this, we recommend the following steps:

Always consider the information displayed on your broker's platform (RTrader Pro, Tradovate, Web NinjaTrader) as accurate.

If you encounter outdated positions, please reconnect to your broker by navigating to:
    • Connections > Disconnect
    • Connections > Connect to the broker
This will help ensure that positions are updated and displayed correctly.

Ensure that both your broker platform (such as RTrader) and NinjaTrader are updated to their latest versions.

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do within Replikanto to resolve this issue directly, as it depends on the trading platform to correctly update account positions as shown by the broker's tool. We rely on the proper functioning of the trading platform for Replikanto to operate smoothly.

It’s an issue which pre-dates the use of trade copiers, prop firms etc. I reported it to Support years ago and subsequently lost the will to live getting no acknowledgement/acceptance of it (tell us the steps to replicate it - yeah, right) and still occurs regardless of broker, copier etc.
Seems like it is cropping up a lot more frequently now

        Hello all,

        Thank you for posting.

If there is no Instrument update received after an execution identifying the account is "FLAT" as referenced in an example below NinjaTrader will have no indication that the account in deed is Flat therefore will continue to show the position until this Instrument update is received from your broker servers. If this information is not being sent you would need to contact your evaluation provider directly.

I have similar problems with Apex trades not closing properly on my home computer, but when I run it on ninjamobiletrader vps it copies the trades perfectly and closes them correctly, I think it has to do with the better rithmic connection.

I've also been battling this issue, and here is what I've done to work around it. The central issue is Replikanto and NinjaTrader not having fast access to update account positions in Rithmic
            • Disable all Replikanto's "Follower Guard" features since they rely on accurate account position data. These safeguards will fire and attempt to close an already-closed position resulting in an undesired opposite position with no stop/take profit.
            • Use Apex in Rithmic "plugin mode" using this video. This seems to allow faster data updates
            • Don't use mini-to-micro "cross-order" copying. The stop and take profit orders are created only when the leader gets the fill. If the micro order is filled in the follower accounts but the leader account's order is not filled, the follower accounts will be in a trade with no stop or take profit.
I hope that Replikanto, Ninja, and Rithmic can resolve the account updating issue that is hindering smooth trade copying.

To add to this. Have a positions window up from Rithmic rtrader pro with Position filter "Hide flat positions". If you show a position in Ninja but not rtrader, then you know Ninja is not showing accurate information. Just disconnect/reconnect your rithmic connection in Ninja and that "ghost" position will disappear.

Thank you for the ninjamobiletrader vps recommendation! I've been using it too for Apex Rithmic and it fixed the ghost orders problem. I think everyone is right about the problem being having the fastest connection possible to Rithmic for updating positions.

I use the Ninjatrader Trade Copier from Lumens Trading Systems... I don't get that issue. Must be an Apex issue.

Here's a video of it in action: https://youtu.be/0aZb8mq8puU
