sim trading - no orders filled overnight

Thank you for the message.

If you are referring to the Sim101 account, then it requires for NinjaTrader to be open and actively connected to live data so the platform can see what is happening with the market and manage the account.

So that is correct, the Sim101 account and orders will NOT work as expected if NinjaTrader or the computer is closed.


If you were trading on a NinjaTrader Demo account (from the "NinjaTrader" connection), those orders would be held server side and fill if the platform was closed.

• (The OCO functionality wouldn't work with NinjaTrader closed though)

Finally, if this was a live account, the Orders would be sent to the Broker and Exchanges servers and held there and would continue working even if NinjaTrader was closed.

• (Again, most connections do NOT have native OCO functionality on their servers so you would want to keep NinjaTrader open and connected if you are using ATM Strategies or OCO functionality with your orders)

You can run it on ninjamobiletrader vps so even when you shut down your computer over night, the NinjaTrader Desktop is still running on the vps and the ATM strategies for profit targets and stop losses are working on Sim, live, Rithmic, tradovate, etc.
