    nonstop computhrashing

this problem started this morning running 8.0.28.0
nonstop heavy usage... then i closed the data connection - no change.... then i closed the workspace - no change... only after shutting down NT8
-- i then uninstalled and reinstalled 80280 and and BloodHound and TradeThe Plan Volume Analyst...
-- and deleted all stored instrument data and changed the name of the database file to "delete" it
-- problem started immediately upon opening an empty "untitled" workspace after opening the live data feed...
-- closed the workspace - problem persists... close the data feed - problem persists

    -- uninstalled 80280
-- installed 8121 with appropriate version of BloodHound 8.2.2.51 which is explicitly compatible with 8.1.2
-- any time i would open any workspace the problem began
-- uninstalled 8121 and BloodHound and TradeThe Plan Volume Analyst...
-- reinstalled 8.1.2.1 and began building a workspace from scratch - as in "new chart" and define the params but adding nothing to it - no templates no indicators, nothing
-- built out half of the charts blank no templates nothing - - logged onto data feed and the problem began - WITH NO INDICATORS, NOTHING CALLING ON DATA AT ALL

    -- uninstalled 8.1.2.1
-- changed the database.sqlt filename, deleted all instrument data again, didn't bother to look if there was any, hid all workspaces within a folder in the workspace folder
    -- installed 8.1.3.1
-- it accidentally or something opened a default workspace and the thrashing began

-- **** for sh*ts and giggles i started up my other computer that has an install of NT8 8.0.27.1 - the workspace loaded with all the indicators in place on the charts and the usage dropped back down to 0000.1% which is what would be expected....

what the Duck is going on ?
Is this some kind of Avian VIRUS ?
what else do i need to do to solve this ?

next problem --- can't log onto data feed on the 2nd computer using my same credentials
error message just says "1Continuum NinjaBrkrg 1: Network connection to the Order Routing System is unavailable. (Login Failed)

    Hello Stafe,

    Thank you for the message.

I am curious if the same behavior continues without any of the 3rd party add-ons loading into the background while using version 8.1.3.1:
    • Even if they aren't within a window of the workspace, some add-ons start working and doing stuff in the background the moment NinjaTrader is loaded in.
    • If you look in the Log tab, "Session Break" is the update shown when NinjaTrader opens and then you can see it load in all of the various 3rd party vendor assemblies.
      • You can either open NinjaTrader in Safe Mode to test if the same thing happens - How Do I Open NinjaTrader Desktop in Safe Mode?
      • Or, you can close NinjaTrader and rename the Documents > NinjaTrader 8 > "bin" folder so the platform makes a new one.
Did the behavior continue while you were in Safe Mode or after renaming the bin folder?

With your additional question, it sounds like it has some local setting that is preventing the platform from reaching the servers it needs. I'd suggest restarting that PC and making sure the Firewall and Antivirus are set up to not block NinjaTrader.
    • However, the main point of this thread was your question about the performance so if you would like to investigate the connection further, please either post the question in a new forum thread or send an email to our support team directly at Support [AT]NinjaTrader[DOT]com.
    • The goal is to have each forum or email thread be about one specific topic so our responses and information do not get mixed up or more confusing than they can sometimes already be.

Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.

yes, the behavior begins in safe mode after opening the default futures workspace as well...
i suppose, though you didn't mention it, that i need to completely remove NT8 from the drive as well as hidden folders and reinstall from scratch ? ?

removed NT8 completely from the computer, all folders, files, hidden folders, registry entries... reinstalled and everything runs fine now

        added following morning...

left NT8 running all night and found heavy churning and several charts running 15min behind or more in the morning... working to find the cause... i'm thinking i may need to leave just 1 chart running overnight at a time to isolate the problem child

It could be a 3rd party indicator struggling to calculate, that's typically what causes charts to run behind.

this is really odd for sure... i found the issue to be 3 different instances of VOL running on 3 diff ES charts... they were set to calculate on each tick... but why they all of a sudden stopped working correctly i'll never know... the usage was feeding vol data to a short period SMA laid over the VolumUpDown indicator to get an average vol line on the updown indicator.... Wrote a new version of UpDown with averages built in and all good to go now... That was honestly the weirdest hangup i've had yet with NT in 8 years of using the platform...
