ADX Increasing

Hi, I want to create an alert that pops up when the ADX is 2 points higher than it was 3 bars ago. In the Alert builder I have current bar ADX is Greater than ADX 3 Bars ago. Do I use the Properties to designate by 2 points? If so, how? Or is there another way?

Hello Mitch,

The Offset is used to add, subtract, multiply, or divide.

In the Properties set the Offset value to 2.

Yes, this would be the same in the Strategy Builder.

Hi Chelsea, I was thinking that may work, but I am not sure what I select from the Offset Type drop down menu? Is what I have here correct or do I select a different Offset Type?

The Offset type should be set to Arithmetic to add or subtract numbers.

Thanks, Now, if I want to have an alert fire when the ADX is going down would I select "Less" from the middle drop down and use -2 as the properties offset? To me that looks like a double negative.

If you want a condition checking the ADX of the current bar is less than the ADX of 2 bars ago minus 2 points, then yes this would be correct.

Thank you so much for your replies. I do have one other question about this, thinking this could work too, please tell me I'm correct. Instead of using Great or Less, would it also work if I used

Equals 3 Bars ogo +2. for an alert of ADX 2 points higher than 3 bars ago.
and
Equals 3 Bars ogo -2. for an alert of ADX 2 points lower than 3 bars ago

Or do I just stick with using Greater and Lower.

This depends on the logic you want.

If the ADX is 2.25 points higher than 3 bars ago, do you want an alert?
Do you want the alert only if the ADX is exactly 2 points higher and not any higher than that?

Ok, I see where you're going with this, No I want the alert for ADX of 2 points or GREATER, or for 2 points or LESS. so I should use the Greater or Less and not Equals. Or possibly "Greater equal" if it's exactly 2 points or more. Correct?
