    MArket data failed

    Hi,

    I have a Rithmic connection, with a good internet service provider and a good Desktop to execute the NinjaTrader platform (64 RAM, SSD, Intel Xeon 8 cores).

    For the last 3-4 months when i get a disconnection i get this error message: "Market data failed for "NQ 09-24": "get order book error : 13" but after reconnect i get no data updates. Other times the reconnection works fine.

    Iam not using Level II data for any indicator or strategy. This happens even with only one chart opened and no indicators/addons/strategies loaded i get the same error so i think there is an issue with the platform.

    The NinjaTrader version is 8.1.3.0 64-bit

    The reconnection options are:
    • On connection loss: Keep running
    • Handling: Keep running
    • Disconnect delay seconds: 20
    • Number of restart attempts: 999
    • Restarts within x minutes: 1

    The main issue here is that after re connect, the NinjaTrader does not process any data, i mean the chart does not refresh with new market data so i must disconnect by hand and connect by hand, after that i get the chart updates.

    Is there a way to solve it? The most important is to get the chart updates when the platform reconnects.

    Will appreciate any help and advice.

    "get order book error : 13"

    This error would appear if there is any Window in your workspace that tried to pull Level 2 data. If you are certain you do not have any type of Level 2 window, and are getting this error upon reconnection, then this may point general issues with the connection.

    In any case, I recommend you update your platform to rule out version variables.

    To update to the latest version of NinjaTrader Desktop please follow the steps below.
    • Login into the NinjaTrader Account Dashboard
    • Click "Download" in the bottom left-hand corner of the sidebar
    • Next select "Download" in the "Most Recent Release" Window in the main screen
    • Once the installation had downloaded, ensure any previous version of NinjaTrader is closed before running the installation package.
      • Note: You may need to locate this in your "Downloads" folder in a Windows File Explorer
    ​If you continue to experience disconenction in this manner after the update:

    This most commonly occurs when NinjaTrader is unable to communicate with the servers due to it being blocked by another program, or there is an issue in the path between your computer and the appropriate servers.

    Please check for software such as (corporate) firewalls, spyware and anti-virus software that could be blocking NinjaTrader.
    In some cases the modem/router has built-in software that prevents the connection to be established.
    It is common with a software update, for Windows Defender to block the app again, so please make sure exceptions for NT8 are added to any anti-virus or firewall you may have.

    To resolve this, I recommend the following steps (test for the issue after each step):
    • Restart your modem and (if applicable) router
    • Restart your PC
    • Also, ensure that your computer is not turning off your Network Adapter to conserve power:
      • Restart NinjaTrader
      • Right-click on your Start button
      • Select 'Device Manager'
      • Expand 'Network Adapters'
      • Right-click on your Network Adapter and select Properties > Power Management
      • Uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' option
      • Click 'OK' to save the changes
      • Do this for all Network Adapters
    • Clear your DNS
    • If you are using a VPN, please turn it off and try connecting again.
    • If you are not already and the option is available to you, connect to the internet using an ethernet cable. Wireless connections are significantly more unreliable.
    • Ensure exceptions have been added into any firewall/antivirus/backup programs for these folders:
      • C:\Users\<your username>\Documents\NinjaTrader 8
      • C:\Program Files \NinjaTrader 8
    • If the above steps do not help, contact your ISP and let them know you are experiencing a highly unstable connection. An issue of connectivity may exist on their end.


    Please let me know if you are still experiencing the same after following these steps.​

      Thanks Erick , i appreciate the response.

      The antivirus software is McAfee, and already tested with it disable for a day and the issue is the same. No windows protection software, no firewall and no block of any packets from my internet switch.

      The main issue is that only happens in automatic reconnections performed by the NinjaTrader Platform.

      If i open the connection by hand all works.

      Thats why i think the platform is not managing something from Rithmic data.

      In the trace file i see this errors:

      Attached part of the file (i replaced the account numbers by * but the original data has the full account number)

      Hope this info can help to see why the platform cant get the data on automatic reconnections.

        Even with the new version 8.1.3.1 the same reconnection issue happens.

        The good news, in case some one else has this problem, is that i re installed NinjaTrader platform version 8.0.27.1 and now the reconnection works.

        Hope NinjaTrader technical team will be able to find a fix on new versions because when we trade real money a stable and reliable platform is a key factor in trading success.
