    Adding Kinetick Symbols to Tradovate

I use Ninja Trader 8, I subscribe to real time data from Kinetick.
My Kinetick subscription is for Dow Jones Indexes and market metrics (for
example the NYSE TRIN) only, my subscription does not include futures such as the ES contract.

I am connecting to NT 8 using my Tradovate account.

This Tradovate account is from Take Profit Trader and uses the CQG data feed.

I am able to open charts in NT 8 of Kinetick symbols with no problem by simply adding
the Kinetick symbol to my database.

The problem is, when I connect to NT8 using Tradovate, it apparently doesn't recognize
the Kinetick symbols I have added to my database. I get the following error message:

As a result, I cannot access my real time Kinetick data when connecting with Tradovate.

There is another aspect to this.
If I connect to Kinetick first and Tradovate second, I can get the real time data from
Kinetick, but the futures contract is delayed by 10 minutes as my Kinetick subscription
doesn't include real time futures data.

If I connect to Tradovate first and Kinetick second, I get the error message I described.
I then have real time futures data but no real time metrics from Kinetick even though
I was able to connect to Kinetick successfully (green dot).

How do I configure Ninja Trader and/or Tradovate to get both real time metrics from
Kinetick yet also get real time futures data from Tradovate using the CQG data feed?

    Thank you.

    Hello Trader782,

    Thank you for the message.

Unfortunately, your picture wasn't included with the prior post so we are not sure what the error message said.

Either way, by default NinjaTrader will use the market data from the first connection that is established that can provide that type of data.
    • Even if the user doesn't have a real-time data subscription through that provider for that instrument type, it still sees that the connection could provide it so it uses that for that type of data.
You can force NinjaTrader to pull the real-time data for each instrument type from different connections despite their order of connection.
    • Follow along with the link below to specify the "NinjaTrader" Connection type for both Real-time and Historical Futures Data.
    • Then specify Kinetick for the Real-time and Historical Index data and any other data you are getting from them.
    • Click OK and restart NinjaTrader
Now it will not matter what order you connect in, once the platform sees that connection type established, it will switch to pulling the instrument data from the specified connection.

Please see the link below for a list of the different instruments supported by the NinjaTrader connection and their Symbols within the NinjaTrader platform.
If your questions are not answered by the information above, please try attaching the picture of the error message again so we may provide further insight on what could make it appear.

Finally, if you need to get more specific with your account or data, please write in to Support[AT]NinjaTrader[DOT]com with your questions, account number, and Username you are using to sign into the platform so we may provide further help and information. (The forum is publicly facing so we do NOT want to share or discuss this kind of information here)

Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.

      Clayton,

Thank you for your prompt and thorough response.

I inserted the picture of the error message in my post. I see it when I am logged in, I don't see it in my post in the forum.

I attached it again along with a picture of the available connections on my Ninja Trader platform.

Yes, I want to force Ninja Trader to pull real time ES futures data from my Tradovate connection and to pull real time market
      metrics from my Kinetick connection.

Unfortunately, I do not understand the instructions you provided to do that.

See attached screen shot. There is no "Ninja Trader" connection type that I can find. I am using NT 8.0.28.0.

Please tell me exactly where to find the "Ninja Trader" connection type.

The ES futures is supported by the "Ninja Trader" connection as it is on the list you provided.

      Thank you,

      Anthony

        Hello Trader782,

        Thank you for the update.

To follow my instructions, you must be on the most current version of NinjaTrader, version 8.1.3.1.
        • Login into your NinjaTrader Account Dashboard
        • Click "Download" in the bottom left-hand corner of the sidebar
        • Select "Download" in the "Most Recent Release" section
        • Once the installation is downloaded, ensure any previous version of NinjaTrader is closed before running the installation package.

After completing the installation, you can log into the platform using the same username and password as your NinjaTrader Account Dashboard.
        • Note: Updating NinjaTrader Desktop will not affect any custom configurations, workspaces, or add-ons.
        • A visual walkthrough of the update process may be found here in our Help Center.
Once updated, you will see the "NinjaTrader" connection type and be able to set up the Preferred Connections as previously directed.

Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.

Thank you for that information, I use more than one license key. How do I download and install the most recent version of NT so that I can continue to use all my license keys and easily change the key I want to use at any time?

            Hello Trader782,

            Thank you for the update.

All of the License Keys get tied to your NinjaTrader Username and then you never have to worry about them again in the new platform.
The steps to update NinjaTrader are the same and in my prior response.

If you want to use NinjaTrader 8.0.28.0 so you still have license keys, then download that from under the "Prior Releases" on the same page as the current download.

If you still have any further questions, please use the following steps to send your log and trace files to the support team directly from your NinjaTrader Platform so we may investigate this behavior further:
            • Within NinjaTrader, go to the Control Center > Help > Email Support...
            • To: Set this to "Platform Technical Support"
            • Subject: Copy and paste the Forum URL
            • Attach: Attach a file, picture, or compressed file to share multiple files/pictures
            • Body: Include the Username you are using to open NinjaTrader
            • Make sure 'Log and Trace files' is checked to include the requested files
              • Send the email
Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.

              you said:
              >>If you have multiple evaluation accounts and keys, you only need to import one. They all give you the same underlying entitlement so you don't have to worry about importing all of them. Once >>one is imported, importing additional evaluation license keys does nothing.

Yes I understand that all my license keys provide the same underlying entitlement.

If I only import one key, I will only be able to connect to the accounts associated with that key? In NT 8.0, I can only see the connections associated with the license key I am using. To trade an evaluation account from a different company. I have to manually change the key so that the connection to that company appears. Then once I connect I can trade that account.

How do I access all my license keys and evaluation accounts from different companies seamlessly using NT 8.1?

How do I import more than 1 license key to my Ninja Trader username?

See attached pictures. When I log into Ninja Trader, it looks like I can only import 1 license key?

                  Thank you.

                    Do the import twice?
