    What happened to Kinetick?

    Hello support,

Kinetick stopped working today from 10:26 to 11:39. Data during that time is still missing till now. But I don't see it's mentioned anywhere. Seems not many people are using this data provider?

Luckily I have IB as backup. So I could get the missing data. But once I connect to Kinetick, it is overwritten by data from server, even with 'Get data from server' disabled. How to stop this downloading for historical data?

    Hello cliffhu,

    Thank you for the message.

Unfortunately, NinjaTrader has no control over the Historical Data that comes with the Kinetick connection as the data is ultimately coming from DTN IQFeed and being renamed Kinetick as a special data feed for use with the NinjaTrader Platform specifically.

You may use the following steps to try removing all of the historical data from your platform so that it is forced to reload all of the data and possibly fill the gap:
    • Close NinjaTrader
    • Go to the Documents folder > NinjaTrader 8 > db, this folder holds all of the historical data
      • Delete the following folders:
        • Tick
        • Minute
        • Day
        • Cache
          • Do NOT delete any other files or folders
      • After Deleting these folders, reopen NinjaTrader and it will make New ones automatically.
From here, reopen NinjaTrader, connect to data, and then wait for the charts to load in.

If the gap remains, what Instrument, Contract, and Chart Interval are you looking at? It would be good to note this for the whole team so they are aware too.

Please also take a screenshot of the entire chart with the gap showing and include that in your response.
    • To send a screenshot with Windows 10 or newer I would recommend using the Windows Snipping Tool.
    • Alternatively to send a screenshot press Alt + PRINT SCREEN to take a screenshot of the selected window. Then go to Start--> Accessories--> Paint, and press CTRL + V to paste the image. Lastly, save it as a jpeg file and send the file as an attachment.
Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.

A CTA software glitch caused problems today with 40 NYSE securities between 9:30 and 10:26. Maybe this was the source of your data problem?

        Hello Clayton,

Please see the screenshot of most basic index ETFs. It seems NASDAQ is not impacted.

I followed your instructions. But still have the same problem. This first picture is when connected to Kinetick. Second one is when connected to IB. Both have 'Get data from server' disabled.

Thanks for the information. I'm not IT expert. I guess that problem is on data provider? as IB had no issue.

            Hello cliffhu,

            Thank you for the message.

Since the data is coming from other companies, there is nothing more we can do than send them an email and let them know about the gap.

From there, you would have to wait for them to find and address the data on their backend servers if that is even something they do.

We were also made aware of an outage at the NYSE that could be connected to this gap in data. Please see the following publicly available post:
You can only choose one place to get the Historical Data from per data type, so you have to choose one or the other.
            • So, you can go with Interactive Brokers and have no historical Tick Data
            • Or, use Kinetick and know that they had the gaps in their historical data for those instruments on that day.

Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.

              Thanks, Clayton.

Any suggestion to stop downloading from server? The option doesn't work.

                Hello cliffhu,

                Thank you for the update.

                Unfortunately, no.

If you uncheck "Get data from server" it will still request data from the servers if you perform certain actions.

You will have to essentially ignore that gap in the data, or find another data provider and use that as the Historical Data Provider for that type of instrument:
