Hello bill2023,
Thank you for the message.
If there is no volume and no trades for a time period, there is nothing to represent for that time so it is drawn as a blank or a thin horizontal line.- The platform simply displays it as it is sent from the provider.
- So, if there is nothing send from the provider for that time period, NinjaTrader will not make up values to fill the gap, it will simply leave it empty.
I set my platform's Merge Policy to "Do not merge" so I could demonstrate by looking at the current and future contracts of the ES. Since the ES 09-24 contract isn't the "Most Current" one, it has really low volume so that is shown with gaps and little lines on the chart.
Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.

my data provider is IB , there is a thin horizontal line if bar has no volume on IB chart, but on Ninjatrader chart one 1000 volume bar immediately after 1000 volume bar , there are 100 bars (0 volume) between not show. this only happen on real time chart, historical chart working properly ( a thin horizontal line if bar has no volume). i trade Interactive broker stocks.Last edited by bill2023; 05-29-2024, 02:39 PM.

Hello bill2023,
Thank you for the message.
Interactive Brokers doesn't provide Historical Tick Data that would be needed to load in a 1000 Volume chart. So, this would imply that the Historical data is coming from a different source than Interactive Brokers.
It isn't unexpected for different brokers to provide and filter Tick data differently. Especially between real-time and historical data.
If you right-click on the chart and select "Reload all historical data" this reloads the chart with Historical data and then it continues using Real-time data from there.:
It is possible that synchronizing your PC clock that is being used for the Timestamps will bring the data more in line between refreshes:
Please use the steps below to sync your PC's internal clock that NinjaTrader's Charts use for its timestamps.- Shutdown NinjaTrader
- Right-click on the clock in the lower-right corner of your desktop
- Select "Adjust date and time"
For Windows 10, select 'Date, Time, and regional formatting' > 'Additional date, time, and regional settings' > 'Set the time and date'- Select the 'Internet Time' tab at the top
- Set the server to time.nist.gov and click "Update".
- If the message that appears says successful your PC clock should now be updated.
- If not, select a different server from the Server: drop-down and try again (repeat until one of the servers is successful)
After updating the PC clock, reopen NinjaTrader, then right-click in the Chart and select "Reload All Historical Data".
Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.
